Not picking up

I don't think social media has anything to do with it. I'm a member of a Texas based bowhunting forum that resembles what this forum was like back in it's heyday.....busy and a lot of the members are on Facebook.  It's privately owned and they promote a lot of other companies. They have a supporting members deal where you can pay a small "membership" fee for a year and get a neat little window decal of the website/forum's logo. There's more members on there than just Texans also. There's a New Yorker (), Coonasses, New Mexicans, Coloradans, even one Californian....plus many more from other states. It's all about promotion in my opinion. This forum isn't promoted, really at all, by Realtree.   Go try to find any promotional items for this forum......I couldn't find any.  When there were promotional items years ago it got to where some folks were trying to guilt trip everyone into buying them.  That took off like a lead balloon.

Yep, they always had their own website, but what I was referring to was their Facebook page, they like many other Pro Staffers have their own Facebook pages that they use as forums, they also do weekly giveaways to draw people to their pages, I would think they would do the same for Realtree if that's who they are representing. Again, just is just my take on it, and I may be way off base with this.

Using Ralph and Vikki may have been a poor example on my part since they have their own company and show to look after, but I hope everyone gets the gist as to what I was trying to get at. Tim Andrus, seems to be the ONLY one that makes a effort to be on this site on a consistent basis, even tho he does the RUSH, and has his own Facebook page to tend to.

I definitely in no way am trying to bash or belittle anyone, but it seems to me Facebook has played a part in the lack of participation here. I for one would love to see these forums flourish once again.

Yeah Luke, I don't know about the giveaways though.  I used to get absolutely inundated with the "ACM" archers choice media emails so much so that it became annoying, but it did at first generate the intended result of getting me to their site and sometimes onto the sponsors sites that they often also led to.  Seems they even used to come in here and ask folks to come over and vote for the "golden moose award".  I signed up for several of their "giveaways" and appeared as though it was often the same folks winning, I never once saw or heard of anyone I knew who won anything.  Think they either gave up on me or their messages now maybe goes automatically to my spam folder, but I don't get mail from them anymore and to be honest I do NOT miss it.   Became a real turnoff for me, but I still think Ralph and Vicki are ok.

Now, how much are these other sites that for years used this site as a springboard to direct traffic to their own sites returning the favor and promoting these forums and are any of their members directing traffic back this way?

This place really initially took off after the realtree tv show aired advertisements for the realtree forums, "friends family and the outdoors".  Dunno that there is even a rt tv show on any network anymore.  How much promotion is there out there for this site?

I do miss some of those "pros" though, there were some genuinely good people among them.  Jesse and Ginger Morehead posted a sincere heartfelt post offering their prayers for my daughter Nicole when she had to have a surgery to have a mass removed, you just don't forget stuff like that.

Waddell, he couldn't remember his password here. Someone had to reset it for him.  He actually signed up under a couple different user names, think stringpicker was maybe the last one.  Used to be where chat room would get visits from some of the "pro's" on certain nights and that was actually promoted and would get some traffic this way.  Now we have a working chat room again, dunno if that might ever be an option again or not.

Like you I was hounded with emails and such from Archers Choice, I observed the same thing as you when it came to winners of their contests and give-aways. It seemed to be the same with other shows that offered these type of contests. So I just stopped participating in the all.

Realtree Outdoors still airs on the Outdoor channel, but Roadtrips and others like it seemed to have disappeared. But I agree with you it seems some have used these forums as a springboard and once they accomplished what they needed, they didn't reciprocate the favor to the forums.

I truly don't know what the answer would be, but I do think it would be a shame to loose this forum, it has so much to offer from some great people.

Have you seen the Moldy Oak forum?  They were as strong as we were in the hay day.  We could be a lot worse.

I was wondering............... Most of us have made friends here, really good friends that we keep in contact with on a regular basis.  Whether we use email, phone calls or Christmas cards.  What if we regulars were to pick a time and date and have something like a "Realtree Reunion"?  Then go out and tell all our Realtree buddies to come back and shoot the breeze with us for one day.  Just have a day where we could all catch up and swap pics or tell one of our forum stories.  Who knows what it could ignite.

Looks like Luke has tried my idea and has started contacting people.

However it looks like they cannot log back in without help.  That may be a big reason why so many have not come back.

You may be right Joe, I think with the last couple upgrades it affected logins, and this resulted in no way of contacting anyone to get the issue fixed. Luckily we stumbled onto a few and got their issue fixed. I will continue to try and contact the older members that I still have contact with and see if I can convince them to return. I'm not sure what happened to GW, but he does post on Facebook.
