LifeNRA
Re: whats better for turkeys I like the largest 12 gauge I can use! Which would be a 3.5" shell! Use the biggest you can in your shotgun. Also, make sure you use a full or extra full choke to! It will help keep your shot pattern tight for farther ranges! PAbowhunter4life
Re: whats better for turkeys I agree, if you can get good patterns with a 3.5" shell out of your gun then use it. You don't feel the kick in the field, but the turkey will sure feel that extra oomph that's packed in to 3.5" shells. But like LifeNRA said, if your gun doesn't shoot 3.5's, then use whatever the biggest shell is your gun can handle.
Guest kracey
Re: whats better for turkeys It doesn't really matter, 2 3/4, 3, or 3 1/2. Shoot whatever gives you the best pattern. I am shooting 3 inch federal flgiht controls #6. But If a 2 3/4 inch patterned better I'd switch to that. It not always about power. 20 kill hits from a 2 3/4 is gonna kill a turkey just as much as 20 kill hits from a 3 1/2 inch shell.
