Guest kracey
Re: The Atom Broadhead........ I think these broadheads look pretty cool. They are different nad thats why i think i like them. I've heard people trash talking these broadheads already and no one has even tried them yet. I think the concept is a good idea, if it worked it be a really good broadhead. Im not saying they will. But if they do who could complain with more penetration?
Squirrelhunter91
Re: The Atom Broadhead........ They are made by Arrow-Dynamic-Solutions? The Gobbler Guillotine was a big hit, why won't this work? www.arrow-dynamic-solutions.com
VtBowhunter
Re: The Atom Broadhead........ Chrud, they are designed to flex when they hit bone and then spring back to form when past the bone. I wouldn't knock them just yet. A lot of folks said the same thing about the Gobbler Guillotines, too, and look how they turned out.
Chrud
Re: The Atom Broadhead........ [ QUOTE ] Chrud, they are designed to flex when they hit bone and then spring back to form when past the bone. [/ QUOTE ] I wouldn't trust that at all. I would much rather have a strong broadhead than one that springs around bone. Just seems like an accident waiting to happen.
maddhunter
Re: The Atom Broadhead........ Looks like a good desine to me. Maybe cut down on the planeing. But I agree with Chrud also, I would rather have a broadhead that breaks bone than going around it. I would give them I try.

Chrud
Re: The Atom Broadhead........ Wouldn't the blades moving around the bones really kill your energy and momentum? I would think they'd flex when they hit anything. I don't know about that design. I would think they'd be "best" applied to thin skinned, minimal bone animals. Like a squirrel. Guest kracey
Re: The Atom Broadhead........ You'll never know how they perform if you never try them. The blades most likely will not contract unless they come in contact with something hard enough to push them back. I dont think the blades moving would make the arrow lose energy. The blades contracting would result in less restriction, what I think would allow more penetatration. I'll try these broadheads when they come out and let oyu all know how they do. Thats the only way any of us will ever really know how they Perform.
Ohiobucks
Re: The Atom Broadhead........ [ QUOTE ] Wouldn't the blades moving around the bones really kill your energy and momentum? [/ QUOTE ] As opposed to fixed blades trying to "go through" bone? Looks like a cool concept. I'll bet the first people to see compound bows were like, "Why in the world would you want wheels on your bow? I'll never own a bow with wheels on it....." I'll try them when they are available to the public.
Ohiobucks
Re: The Atom Broadhead........ Check out the picture from their website. Pass through on a hog. Hog hide is a little thicker than deer hide, isn't it? Is the bone structure is about the same? Go here: Arrow Dynamic Solutions
Chrud
Re: The Atom Broadhead........ I just don't like how weak the blades look. I don't know if you could really compare them to the GG's, as they are for head shots. These are for going through the body cavity (shoulder, ribs) of big game animals. I'm sure it would fly great, but I don't like how weak the blades look. I sure would like to see a report on them when they are available. I could be way wrong. What if it hits a shoulder hard enough and the blades contract back and don't "spring" back out. Just too many "what if's" for me, probably why I don't use mechanicals. GWSmith
Re: The Atom Broadhead........ Ohiobucks, Sometimes that would be more true(about the hide of hogs) than others. One of the common facts of a Wild Hogs life is they fight between themselves alot for dominence(the pecking order). Through whatever factors bringing it about(evolution, self preservation, instinct, whatever...) they make a habit of gouging trees with their tusk's and rubbing against them with thier shoulders. After awhile of doing this you can imagine what would happen. A hard shell of dried sap forms in the hair around the shoulder. Why they do this naturally is another factor of nature that is amazing to say the least. It seems to provide protection against the tusk's of other combatants they will find them selves in contact with as they grow older. One way of proving this is the next time your out in woods that have Wild Hogs in them...look at what seems to be a rub made by a buck on a tree. If it has dried mud on it more than likely it was made by a wild hog who has gouged and then rubbed against it. Bucks dont roll around in the mud before making a rub...those rubs will be clean. Whats exciting is to walk into the woods and find one of these trees with mud on it all tore up......and its waist high or higher with mud all over it. Makes you wonder why your walking in there in the dark If that broadhead can make it through that on a hog...I'll be shooting them!!!
