Dawg
Had a buck ~130" show up on the camera Wednesday. He was following a doe. They showed up at 10am and 2pm. Me and the boy are going to try to stick it out tomorrow in the heat to try and him a chance at that buck. Other than that we had the typical residents show up......the doe with her two youngins', the lone doe, 4 pointer, 6 pointer, one small spike and the hogs. Ravin R10 man
Sat another 7 hrs on Sat.,4 inches fresh heavy wet snow, got late morning, by then it started to drip when temps rose, then it started to rain. Got my buckwing umbrella put up, and stayed dry...only buck that showed was a real nice spike. otherwise had deer under me all day long. I assume the shooters are locked down with the first cycling does here..they are not on cams at all last few days. Definately not seeing the "Zombie" bucks out in fields yet
Ravin R10 man
at this point, the big ones are locked down with the first hot does. All thats on it's feet are smaller bucks cruising. Just hearing of big bucks nose to ground not stopping for anything.

Ravin R10 man
saw the 8pt I let go scent checking a track across a field by the house this a.m...went out and got in stand by 9 a.m., planned on sitting all day, but at 1;30 a doe with a broken front leg hobbled in. Had a doe tag in my pocket, so down she went. Aint gonna let the wolves have an easy one. May sit this week some after work..Sat is Gun season
RackBlaster
Off this week to bow hunt into the first Illinois gun season. Should be able to put some meat in the freezer. Good luck guys
Dawg
Not much to report. The rut is just about over in my neck of the woods. Haven’t seen a deer while on stand yet. Hunting the 140 acre lease this morning. It was clear cut a few years ago so we’ve had to make some major adjustments on stand placements. Deer sign is good but I’m afraid they are moving at night mostly. Going to sit til about noon.
Ravin R10 man
Opening day I let that 8 pt walk 2xs many other small ones came and went, noticed most of the fawns this year are all button bucks. 22 hrs on stand in two days hunting

Dawg
I’d just like to see a deer while on stand. I’ve stared at the same bushes and trees and am getting tired of it real quick!
Ravin R10 man
Rifle season ends today, I sat tight until late Tuesday. Passed two 8 pts that were two yr olds, needs another year to grow, had a weird rack buck 5 on one side and 3 and deformed on other, 3 yr old. he came in first eve, smack downwind when he stepped out, got a whiff of me locked up and spun around. I got binos up and confirmed it was him, no chance for a shot. He'll be 4 next year. Hopefully a 12 pt. Very doubtful I will even break out my Omega ML this yr. Ravin R10 man
Well guys, I totally forgot to get a pic of a doe for some pts....very doubtful I'm gonna do any more hunting this season, just not seeing anything on cam. Warm temps have deer out in fields feeding like it was Oct. Had a couple corn fields harvested last week, and they are all over that. Taking safety ropes down and letting straps loose on the stands today. First year I have not contributed to the team.
Dawg
Not sure I'll be able to put any points on the board either. This is by far the worst season I have had. Finally saw a deer Saturday morning out on some public land but it saw me first. I never got a good look at it as it was running off in the opposite direction. All the deer at the lease are coming in at night. My son and I head up to Matador WMA for an antlerless hunt next Friday. At best I might get lucky and add 5 points to the board for our team. Ravin R10 man
Well...I thought about it, and figured I didnt want my gun in the cab and get knocked around. SO....guess what shows up about 8:30 a.m.? a nice 8 pt., I drove within 45 yards of him, he got nervous and went to bed down, then he came back out again about 2 pm
Ravin R10 man
one of the 8pts I let walk in rifle season here;
Dawg
My son and I made the trip up to northwest Texas on the doe hunt we drew. Came home empty handed but had a good time. Unless I get real lucky and manage to shoot a buck on the public land i hunt by the house I won’t be able to put any points on the board for us.
