Well I got out today, woods were pretty active this morning, had a lone doe come through 10 minutes after I got on stand this morning and then around 7:30 I had 3 more doe come through, all 4 deer gave me shot opportunities at one point or another but I decided because it was the first hours of the first sit of the year to let them walk.. I also checked my cam while out there and less than an hour before the first doe I had a bigger buck walk through, must have just missed him. I was in Maine which I only get to hunt a couple times a year so it was good to at least have some action.

Got out again today in Maine, most likely the last time here this season, had  the lone doe back tonight but offered no shot opportunity and the wind was not helpful either.. the close encounters though even with doe remind me of why I love to bow hunt! I sat until dark in a t-shirt tonight, not even close to normal for Maine but the deer still moved so I'll take it. My mass season opens Monday so I'm planning on some future vacation days, trying to watch the weather and the date, hoping to take a few days off in early November.

Only been out twice. Have my full time job Tues-Sat and work for another shop on the side when I can and on some of my days off. Fall is a crazy busy time of year for a marine mechanic up here, all boats and watercraft have to get winterized before it gets cold or it can get expensive REAL quick with cracked engine blocks and manifolds lol.

Going to go to the stand this afternoon. Really warm here though, high of 70 today. Had a crappy summer though with 2 years worth of rain so I shouldn't be complaining. Summer showed up late and doesn't want to leave! Was around this time last year I shot my buck. First deer with the bow.

Blackpowder opens up this weekend but I'll be bowhunting.  We've got our first freeze of the year coming up tonight and tomorrow.  Hopefully, the temps and the extra activity in the woods gets those big bucks up on their feet during the daylight.  I'll be hunting solo 9 hours both days.  Taking my came video camera so hopefully I'll get something on camera at least.

i got out this morning for a few hours and got skunked... not at all what I expected but I guess that's why it's hunting.. cooler weather finally moved in, a couple solid days of rain, today is the first day of clearing and pressure rising, thought for sure i'd be on them this morning but no.. oh well, i'm going to get back after it this afternoon and hope to catch something cruising. Good luck on your hunts guys, it's the time to start hitting the woods.

Had a good weekend as far as deer sightings went...but  a bad weekend as far as deer killing.  LOL

Hunted all four sits and saw deer every time.  Passed on several doe and young bucks.  Did manage to see one good shooter but he was sitting at 75 yards, broadside, checking out does.

I go on two weeks vacation Monday.  So hopefully, I'll get us some points on the board.

good luck to you. I had just the opposite, sat Friday and Saturday without a sighting on stand. I decided to climb down out of my stand Friday night with about 45 minutes left of light hoping to catch something coming to a nearby field earlier than usual, I sat at an outside corner of a field edge and with about 15 minutes left of light I had a nice probably 3.5 year old come out and proceed to make 3 scrapes along the field edges and then duck back into the woods after two doe, he seemed to lose interest pretty quick though so this next week or two is probably gonna be the time. Supposed to be a 15 degree temp drop from Friday to Saturday with high pressure on Saturday so i'm hoping for a good morning sit.

Well I went out yesterday and had 0 luck.. the morning was just too windy, wind died down some in the afternoon and I tried a new location, didn't see anything, my younger brother had a buck chasing after a couple doe real late In the day, said they or he wouldn't stop for anything.. it's been surprisingly slow in my few spots for this time of year based on what I was seeing a couple weeks ago..

Worst year of my entire bowhunting career.  Loggers decided to thin 4 sections and clearcut 2 sections of woods that basically ruined every single hunting spot I have.  We're talking my personal land, leased land and public land that I hunt.

I still managed to see some decent bucks but have passed up the young ones hoping a shooter would walk out.  But this logging has really affected their movement.

I've got until January 15th to put something on the ground.  Starting this week, does are on the hitlist.  AND I'm getting less picky on the size of the buck.  If a 110 incher walkes out, he may be in trouble.  LOL

well I finally got it done tonight, it's been a long frustrating season at times and there was a good chance tonight was my last night in the woods for the year.. this guy walked out at 4:30 and offered me a perfect 30 yard broadside shot, with the muzzleloader! The rest was history, he ran off into the woods and got about 50 yards from where he was shot and dropped. Had one of my brothers with me which was great because he doesn't get to see the process done all too often and it was nice having him along for the drag! :)
