wtnhunt
Had this unique buck I said I wanted to see his left side in person. Guessed he was darned near 18 inches inside, but he is only a six point. He is on the left in the picture below. With the 2 buck limit hopefully he makes it through to next season. Don't usually see full fighting this early, hope the buck that busted him up comes around.

Usually get into some sparring here that picks up near the end of October. Whatever buck did that to him had to have been a pretty decent buck. I don't think the smaller 8 point at the minerals is the guilty party, we have yet to get pics of anything bigger bodied or heavier antlered. Rhino
Got pics of 2 bucks here in MO that have already broken off the right side of their racks. Both are young bucks though. I also have a pretty cool fighting/sparring sequence between 2 mature bucks by one of my stands. It happens to be the stand I plan to hunt this afternoon since the wind is finally right for it. Fingers crossed the bigger of the 2 (a main frame 11 point) shows up before dark. The stand is right by an old stock pond in a cedar thicket. Turkeygirl
Wow...your bucks need a little more calcium...calcium = strong bones, lol. Hope he pulls through for next years for ya.
wtnhunt
We had a buck last year that was busted off on both sides just above the hairline, big bodied deer. Thought he was at least 2.5 last year with no antlers, think it likely this is the same deer. Think he has been a bully. Noticeable size difference, little guys body is barely as big as the busted bucks neck.
wtnhunt
We saw this buck the last 5 minutes of legal shooting light this evening with 5 does in front of us. He grunted all the way in from about 150 yards away and never gave Allison a shot. Not sure I wanted her to shoot him anyway, but man o man this buck has a big body and a swaying belly when he trots. Born4it
Holy smokes...not much left to fight with!
dbHunterNY
we've had young 2 year olds break racks off too. one wide one broke off both sides to barely 3" stubs. not big into naming deer but you should nick name him "scrappy". wtnhunt
He is splintered to almost nothing and is making his rounds around our cams about every 2 to 3 days. Not much left to fight with, but something tells me that isn't stopping him, he seems to have an attitude. Almost every set of pics we are getting of him now have him tailing other bucks within seconds, most of those are 2.5 year old 8 pointers. With 3 cams going still have not gotten pics of any bucks that I think could have busted his beams.

Saw what I believe was the guilty party this morning, up to now don't think we ever had a single trail cam pic of him. Kinda felt like deja vu from last year, hopefully will have a little different outcome and I will be behind a camera taking a pic of the wife and that deer. I don't think I could pass the deer again. A solid buck, past his ears and probably very similar if he were not busted up to the 9 point I took last year. I let him walk with hopes the wife can get a shot on him this afternoon. im your huckleberry
I put small meat deer in freezer this year no pictures left my phone at home, well because every time people phone me and I forget to put on silent. Boy do 168 gr e-tips in that 300 Weatherby does take them out fast. At 200 yds a 6 inch long and 1.5 wide wound exiting opposite shoulder, the deer was quartering away it made 10yds and a.blood trail 3 ft wide no problems finding it in the snow. Then back to work and never got another chance to go out again. Edited December 7, 2017 by im your huckleberry
wtnhunt
Think this one is likely responsible for the most part of the busted bucks antlers. Watched him Wednesday morning feeding for a little while before the doe watching me decided she was not sure about my eyes blinking and trotted off with him in tow. He has broken tines, but is still pretty nice. Past his ears, nice long beams, and pretty good mass. Don't think we had any other pics of him, but hopefully he will show again and in front of Catrina. Don't think if I saw him again that I could let him walk again as late as it is in the season. Most recent pics of the fighter that has the splintered antlers shows his jaw to have an issue, hoping to see him closer in the field to maybe assess that. Posted that hunt details in a new thread Frank. The busted up buck has an almost golf ball sized spot(possible injury from fighting)under his jaw and has probably lost 20 lbs. Saw him at 55 yards this morning and looked at the jaw with bino's, spot is bigger now than in the picture. Weight loss probably more to do with changing food availability and typical rundown from rut.
