hammerforged
Well Monday lived up[ to her nasty self yesterday. First I wake up to a message from a very dear friend's son that my friend had passed away during the night with no warning. Then Mother Nature reared her angry head and dropped at least two tornadoes on us, could have been three, not sure on the third one yet. No damage to our house but plenty of damage all around us, my sister has quite a bit of extensive damage to her house, including the power meter being knocked off the house and Duke Power says they don't own the meter and will not repair it, so she has to hire an electrician to reattach the meter before Duke Power will turn her power back on. I don't get it Duke Power installed the meter to begin with so why wouldn't they be responsible for repairs?
Ravin R10 man
Homeowner is responsible for meter loop and box, once that is fixed then they can install a new meter
wtnhunt
Sorry to hear about your friend Ross. On the meter, here I know you are responsible for installing the meter base and the power supply from there to the home, the power company only puts in the actual meter and connects the service. Some places require a licensed electrician to do all the work and then it will have to be inspected as well before the power company will reconnect. Used to be here that if you knew how, you could do your own electrical and have it inspected, don't know with the ever changing codes if that is still allowed or not.
