MUDRUNNER
So I know it's a day early for our Friday check-in, but Ill be in the stand all day tomorrow hoping for a little rutting action so thought we would start a little early this week. The weather is nuts today...sitting about 73 right now and super muggy. A little rain front moving through tonight will have tomorrows high back in the upper 50's, so hoping the deer are on their feet. Heading back to the old oak tree, where I've killed some of my biggest bucks, for the first time this year. Most likely I'll be heading out tomorrow evening for my daughters softball tournament in Cape Girardeau Mo. She plays Saturday and Sunday if the rain stays away. It will be her first college exposure tournament, so she's pretty excited about playing in front of college coaches. What are your weekend plans? wtnhunt
Good luck Tim. Crazy weather for sure, had great conditions last week and this week ending is looking really lousy here. It is near 80 here and yeah crazy humid. Have wasps and lady bugs all over around our doors and on our house. I love muzzleloader hunting, but not too likely I get in a stand for our muzzleloader opener this Saturday. Will be the first one I missed in a loooong time, but we are going to state band competition to watch our 16 year old daughter perform and as warm as it is gonna be I am not all that enthused with the idea of being rushed, we will have to leave around 10 so will probably just skip it. Looking forward, hoping to get a few sits midweek next week if things work out. Wife is in a new job and was supposed to be taking off next week, but one of her bosses quit and with that bosses approval so goes her time off. I might just try and drag my 6 year old son to a stand with me when it is not too hot and not too cold. Tomorrow is our youngest daughter's birthday, she turns 12. Probably go out to eat and then head to the high school playoff game and stay at least til the halftime show to watch our 16 year old. Really my primary goal for this season is to get our 12 year old on a respectable deer, besides that try and knock back the yote population again. Hoping to get some good sits in the stand with her during the muzzleloader and rifle seasons. Hoping I don't regret her passing on that 2.5 year old 7, I probably could have talked her into shooting him when he was 25 yards away. No rut here just yet, but it is getting close. Seeing a lot of rubs and scrapes here. Last weekend(youth hunt) had the busted up mature buck grunt with about every other step coming in to the group of does in front of us. He ended up chasing one of the does, but was not a wide open chase. Our peak rut is typically closer to the 3rd week of November, but seems we are seeing more and more early action the past few years.
Ravin R10 man
Sat here this eve; grunted in a 2yr old 8 pt out to edge of ears, let him walk twice...most of the snow has melted..38 degrees. not seen anything chasing does , but they are bird dogging towards any doe, just to see her run off, another week yet I think before chase phase

Dawg
The rut is on in SE Texas. A nice ~130" 8 pointer showed up on camera Wednesday following a doe. They are moving mid morning here with the full moon in place. He showed up at 10am and 2pm. My son and I will be in the stand in the morning and will attempt to sit past 10am but with the warm temps I'm not sure how long we'll last in our box stand made of tin. We'll hunt Sunday morning too then head home and get the house ready for our weekly gathering of friends for the Cowboys game.
im your huckleberry
On the second i got the chance to test out my 300 wby and the 168 e-tips that i loaded. What a job it does on that meat deer. It was broadside but turned slightly and shot it quartering away, well it took a 1.5" wide and 8" long no problem tracking with a blood trail 3 feet wide and 10 yards long on snow. 92xj
Hello everyone. Been hammering ducks and geese. Elk season was humbling. Heading to Montana in a few days for a week of chasing rutting mulies that just got pushed out of the high country by weather...perfect! Still married. Mabel is 20 months old now, growing and developing amazingly. She gets that from her mom. Anyhow, hope all is well.

Shaun_300
Rifle season opened yesterday here. Noticed 4 good scrapes within 30 yards apart about 100 yards from my stand. Unfortunately I'm not able to take my whole week next week since I took that vacation in the summer. Thought I was taking a new job but it didn't work out. Oh well. Place I'm at now just sold and the new owners seem pretty good. Had absolutely no problem with me taking a few days without pay. Actually sitting in the stand as we speak. 25 degrees and not a breath of wind. Sun just poked up above the horizon. Perfect Morning! Going down to 16 degrees Thursday night so I may take Friday off too, we'll see how the work load is. Love hunting in the cooler temps! A bit of snow would be nice too but that isn't looking too promising so far. Have a great day everyone! View from the stand right now. wtnhunt
Hoping to finally get my first few sits alone in a stand the next few days, have yet to get out with my accura, our muzzleloader opened Saturday. Better weather coming in finally, but looking like a n or nne wind which isn't really great for most of my good stands. From past experience I know we should be right at that time where action is good, bucks cruising looking for early receptive does, but with just 3 sits over the youth hunt back in October I have not been in the stand enough to say for sure what is going on here. Noticed a good rubline along paralleling the river from a bluff going on to our food plot in the bottom while taking a walk in the 80 degree heat over the weekend. Also walked up on 3 ill tempered water moccasins, lucky for me they gave warning before I got close enough for them to strike because I was walking the trail they were laying on and I would never have seen them had they not popped their cotton mouths open and rattled the leaves with their tails. Last pull of cards had the mature splintered buck and another decent 8 pointer that I would pass both working a scrape I can see from a couple of my stands, not the right wind for them though. Looking for something special that has not been around the cams(particularly the buck that splintered the one Allison and I saw during the youth hunt) or will whack any yotes that present themselves. Will probably get Allison out over the weekend if she wants to go.
