Rhino
This catastrophic event cut some of my hunting time short in Missouri this year. I was set to drive to MO on 10/30 for a 2 week stretch of bowhunting. My buddy was already there with a few of his family members. The evening of 10/27 I got a phone call from my buddy..."the barn's on fire!". My first thought was he was joking...then he said he'd send pictures. Then I got these. My 7 month old Polaris Ranger Li Ion EV is the one on the right...my buddy's 2012 Ranger EV is on the left. In the 1st pic the barn is all but gone except for the skinning shed portion that was lined on the inside with hardyboard. The fire was so hot anything aluminum melted. Here's what was left of my Ranger. It had an aluminum roof...gone in the pic. Fortunately a strong West wind blew the fire away from the house so it had no damage at all. The only thing my buddy could do was move the vehicles away and they also managed to drag our 120 gallon diesel tank (half full) away from where it was on the front/left side of the outside of the barn. Needless to say this was a sickening shock but thankfully, nobody was hurt. We couldn't touch a thing until the insurance company showed up after I arrived. Then we had to leave it alone until a fire investigator expert for the insurance company came to investigate the scene and determine the cause of the fire. From his report it was at the outdoor plug in for my buddy's 2012 Ranger EV. When the investigator expert finished his report we were free to clean up the horrible mess on 11/11 (opening of MO gun season). We went through the mess to salvage what we could. We also had to haul off all the freezer items and the remains of my buddy's 8 point that was in the walk in cooler. He had killed it the afternoon before fire. His deer was cooked through & through and the head/neck area was burnt up completely. We started the cleanup on Monday, 11/13 when we could line up the equipment to clean up the mess. We finished cleaning it up and pressure washing the slab on 11/19. I ate my MO gun season tag without even hunting. Fortunately I bagged a great buck on 11/9 two days before the 1st split of the MO archery season closed. I had my Ranger insured and I'll take about a $2K hit on replacing it including the deductable. We're still working on the contents list since all the contents were covered for replacement cost. The barn is covered but the deductable is going to hurt my hip pocket.
MUDRUNNER
My goodness Rhino, that sucks. That is a big loss I'm sure. Thankfully nobody was hurt & it didn't make it to the house. It looks like it must have went up pretty quick. I would imagine your spring just got a little busier.
wtnhunt
Man that is a horrible shame Al. Good thing your buddy was there and able to move the tank. Hope the insurance co comes through for you without too much headache. Did the antlers on your buddies deer burn up as well?
Rhino
The head and antlers on my buddy's buck was part of the ash. Nothing left of it at all. I've already received my insurance check for the Ranger. It will take longer for the barn & contents settlement. The contents list keeps growing and there is no way we'll remember everything we had inside the barn.
Tim Andrus
sorry for your loss Al but the best thing no one was hurt!!!
Rhino
That's my attitude too Tim. Items in the barn and the barn can be replaced. Can't replace friends and family.

Rhino
Picked up my new Polaris Ranger Li Ion EV Wednesday. Dealerships don't stock them, I presume because of the cost. Got lucky with the Polaris dealer I dealt with locating 2 that were about ready to ship from Polaris. Another dealer had mistakenly ordered 2 Li Ion EV's when he meant to order 3 lead acid battery EV's. It usually takes ~8 weeks to ship them from Polaris to a dealership. Got my new Li Ion EV in less than 3 weeks. I'll get to break ii in hunting the rest of the MS deer season. Still waiting on the insurance company for the barn & contents settlement. Shaun_300
Wow that's horrible Al, glad no one was hurt and the house wasn't damaged though! All of the items are replaceable, unfortunately at a cost.
