With a heavy heart

A couple of days before Halloween my wife began her abrupt final battle with cancer.  She lost that battle on the 28th on November.  As I sit here and think about the "what ifs" and the feeling of loss causing an actual physical aching in my chest, I struggle to come to terms with the future and the need to carry on for my children and grandchild.  Knowing that death is a part of the circle of life does not make the loss of my wife, my best friend, of 41+ years any easier.  Lung cancer that metastasized to the brain and mutated twice made the battle a tough one and she was tired of the fight, the symptoms of the disease, and the side affects of the medications used in the fight. She suffers no more.  May she rest in peace.

I want to thank everyone for your kind words, thoughts and prayers.  She will always be part of who I am and has left me with many fond memories of a life shared.  I had promised her that I would not become a hermit, so I will continue to stop by and visit the forums and not just disappear into the mountains.

Wow.

I am sorry.

My wife is widowed twice.

She survived.

Not to make light of your sorrow but  not long after her second husband passed a friend of hers asked her what she would do now.

My wife, who has retained her sense of humor through it all just said, "Eat, drink and remarry."

Then God led her to me...
