fly
The 2017 deer season is about over and what a way to finish! Jr and I both drew DOE only tags for the muzzeloader season this past weekend. I took my doe Saturday AM and Jr took his at last light this evening. Very proud of my son for making a perfect 70 yard shot at last light. Very thankful to to the Lord for helping us find it right away IN THE DARK and in the tall grass. MUDRUNNER
Congrats to you both Frank! Good times right there. That should just about top off the freezer. Was that a public ground draw hunt? I didn't muzz hunt this weekend, but a few guys ended up going to the farm that we hunt. They seen a few does but nobody filled a tag. fly
William, the bike pulls the cart well as long as it's level or down hill - up hill I walk it. Tim, it was a public ground hunt and we both saw several good bucks inside 50 yards including a couple that would have went over 150 inches. Most were about like the one in the picture. Eight pointers in the 120-130's.

Thanks Ruth. It is an amazing hunting area. It's a public ground peninsula consisting of about 1000 acres. The ILDNR manage it for stocked pheasant hunting as well as deer during the archery season. This year was the second year they opened it for the 3 day smokepole season. The place is over-run with deer. It's common to see 20-40 deer during an evening hunt given you're in a tree stand and can see a large area. Getting those deer within 50 yards can be a challenge though because there are so many and can appear from any direction thus catching your scent and sounding the alarm.
