Guest Buckfever1613
i was hunting opening gun season in GA yesterday and i saw some strange things. First i saw a 4 point following 3 or 4 does, and my dad saw a small deer which he guessed to be a buck with his head down following a doe. In the afternoon, i saw what appeared to be 3 does, but then one of them tried to mount the other 2 so i am guessing he was a buck. What do yall think is the normal or is rut going to come early. dogdoc
Re: Early rut possible seems the little boys start a lot earlier than the mature bucks. trying to sneak in a little fun while they can before the big boys get serious and start running them away. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few does come in estrous early. todd
wtnhunt
Re: Early rut possible Dont htink a buck following a doe especially a younger buck following a doe means the rut is starting. It is not really all that uncommon for the little guys to follow the does around early before they get closer and the big boys run them off. I saw a little 1.5 year old 7 pointer following a doe around quite a bit 2 weekends ago. 4 weeks ago saw a spiker running across my field about 8 am chasing a doe who wanted nothing to do with him. Not quite that time yet here.
