Dawg
I'm applying for a buck tag in Colorado this year as well as applying for a handful of hunts in Texas. What's your plans?
Adjam5
Hey Corey. I have been applying for Georgia gator hunts the last 3 years. I have a buddy who lives there and he keeps close watch on that for all of us as in when to apply. Can count on me going to the Hill Country a few times this year. Just got back 4 weeks ago. Small axis, no hogs , no whitetail. I tried! Too many dang acorns is what I hear.
Dawg
It has been a funky year down here for sure. Some areas of the state have had great success, others (as in where I live/hunt) have been pure crap. I hunted quite a bit this season and saw only two deer. Tag soup for me! Maybe the 2018/19 season will be better!
Turkeygirl
Going to start applying for Elk in PA. Might be a few or many years till I'd get drawn but figure might as well start putting in for an elk tag.
Ravin R10 man
Gonna put in for a Clam Lake Elk tag.....Oh.. wait...the Wolves got all of those taken!
stevebeilgard
I got one buck last year on the 1st day, then didn't go hunting again. No reason why, but I will next fall. Did fill the freezer with salmon, red snapper, shrimp and crabs. So, I will eat.
hoytshooter09
Me and a buddy are going for Merriam's turkey in Colorado this year along with some shed hunting too. Then we are going to try our hand at a diy bowhunt for elk in Colorado should be an exciting year.

texastrophies
Already struck out for elk in Wyoming & AZ and antelope in AZ. Applications in for everything, just about in Utah. Will be applying in Texas, Nevada, Colorado, & AZ (deer & sheep). Haven't decided about NM yet, probably will just because it is cheap to do in the long run, although very poor odds. Will probably apply in SD for deer and bison. Now for actual draws, my best chances will be Colorado ( have plenty of points for both deer & elk) and AZ deer will have about a 30 - 40% chance of drawing. If nothing comes through then I will probably just go OTC elk in Colorado.
Dawg
CO mule deer application put in last week. Fingers crossed! Looks like CPW is reducing the amount of elk tags again this year. Pretty much blows my chance at an OTC cow elk tag this year.
texastrophies
I put in for 3rd season deer in Unit 67 with 12 points, didn't really think I would have a chance based on last years numbers. Turns out I did have a chance, at my point level there were 7 applications and 1 tag. I didn't get it, but at least I have almost caught up with the creep. So far, I have struck out on everything, only apps still out or pending are AZ deer, SD & TX. I tried moose in Idaho, but got rejected there also. Tried just about everything in NM and got rejected. Same for Nevada & Utah. May have to go back to Canada with Snapper.
Dawg
The new online application process for Colorado caused a significant increase in applicants due to not having to dish out the money up front. I don't really like it. The weather over the last few years hasn't helped the deer and elk populations either and if it continues this trend we may see CO reducing number of tags each year. That coupled with the new app process will result in slimmer chances of getting drawn, imo.

I applied for points for antelope and moose for my son and I, since there was practically no additional cost. I imagine it won't be too long 2 -3 years, that they will raise the cost of applying after getting people suckered in. There will definitely be more point creep. Dawg
It's nice not having to front the money at the time of applying....that part I like.....it's the increased number of applicants that it caused that I don't like lol
hoytshooter09
Which units will you be hunting? Just got back on here. We ended up going to unit 711 San Juan state park. We both ended up shooting our first Merriam's. Found a few elk sheds and lot of mule deer sheds too. Our up coming hunt for elk is going to be Sept 9thSent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk
texastrophies
Can't hardly believe it, but for the first time since 2008 I doesn't look like I will be going out of state to hunt. I have struck out on every application that I put in for my son & I. Hoytshooter09, did you do any good on your elk hunt?
hoytshooter09
It took us a few days to get on the elk but in the end we found them and my buddy shot his first elk at 15 yards, I got on another bull in the same area but couldn't get him away from his cows or get around on him. For our first time elk hunting we sure learned a lot and had a blast. We can't wait till our next trip .Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk
