What's Your Strangest Hunt?

Last year we had a BIG tom working this field. After playing games with him all morning, an airplane buzzed the field flying low which sent the gobbler into a gobbling frenzy before running towards us, ultimately giving us the shot. We couldn't believe it! The tom ended up weighing in a 24lbs with 1.5" spurs! A real giant! Here's the video to prove it!

Don't really turkey hunt much, but this was by far the most memorable.  I was walking and calling with my box call and pausing and listening for any replies  I got near the back of our property around a brush pile and had what I am pretty sure was a female coyote with two dogs come from a brush pile at me.  My winchester 1300 jammed after I fired the first round at the yotes face through the brush, but fortunately I was able to get them run away.  I had killed several male yotes back over that winter and into the spring.

Oh, man...too many to go through.  One day I called in 12 different Toms/Jakes, but none would get close enough...just madness that morning.  Then I went out the next morning, called one in to 20 yards, shot it, and went home.  The previous morning was more fun than the day I killed one!

Just last year I had two crazy ones...with a buddy and surrounded by four gobbling their heads off, each at 50-60 yards on four sides of us for probably 30 minutes...couldn't get it done on any of them.  We named one of them Laryngitis because he sounded like a 50 year smoker.  After they moved off, walked up the ridge to another gobbling bird that also hung up, so I held up a turkey fan my buddy had, crawled about 20 yards through some weeds, and killed that one.

Later that year, I was hunting with my dad at separate parts of the farm.  Heard a shot from over by Dad, and only one, so knew Dad killed.  Worked my way toward him from behind and right of him only to see a strutter in the field right in front of his blind.  As I'm game planning getting close enough to this bird to shoot him myself, BOOM!  Turns out the shot was a neighbor, and got to see Pop blast a giant.  Caught me off guard, and it really caught him off guard when I started running at it after he shot!

Good question!
