Johnson77123
Hey, I have a question. So on my private land here in Missouri I cannot get a turkey to gobble in the roost or in the morning really. It's almost like they have gone away. I know there are a lot of turkeys around, I've had great luck almost each year I dont know what's up. Any comments?
Rhino
Doubtful they are gone since you've had good luck there each year. Could have been the weather there. I was out either hunting or listening in NE Missouri from opening day (4/16) through Thursday (4/19). As you can see in my opening day post I did hear 4 that had to be fairly close in the high winds and snow flurries we had. My buddy was hunting another area and heard 1 bird gobble just a few times before he killed him. The next morning it was clear, calm and cool. I got up to listen and heard a lot of birds gobble on the roost (~20) in near perfect weather conditions in the same area my buddy only heard 1 on opening day. The next morning it was very windy again and overcast. Listening in the same area where I heard a lot of birds the prior morning, I didn't hear any gobble at all. Poor weather conditions. The next morning (same area again) I heard 1 bird gobble maybe 3 times. Windy but clear the last morning.
Ravin R10 man
Gobbling their heads off up here...but like Al; said, weather can influence that big time
fly
I concur with Al. Hunted in IL opening day (Winds 20mph) and did not hear a Gobble! Next day the wind was 5mph and I heard 5 different Toms in the exact same area in the first 2 hours of the AM. Shot the last one. If you hunted the 17th of April (AM) you should have heard turkeys.
