RatherBowHunt
I have heard from a couple of people that when there is a rising moon between 1 and 5 p.m. in early october will get the deer up and moving a lot earlier and possibly get the bucks up moving in the day....and also when there is a falling moon to hunt your best stands in the morning and the deer move best through the first 2 to 3 hours of daylight....any opinion on this??? Tominator
Re: rising, and falling moons I don't bother myself with rising and falling moons to be honest. What I do do is look for the new moon that's near the end of October of beginning of November and then I'm in my stand as much as possible because I know deer will be moving. JimT
Re: rising, and falling moons There are alot of theories on this. My theory is to hunt regardless of the moon phase. Your not gonna shoot them if your not out there. I hunt morning and afternoon, pretty much every day.
GWSmith
Re: rising, and falling moons First off......."I WISH THIS GUY WAS ME".....seriously!!! I cheated.....I got a moon guide!!! I stayed up all night before and wrote down when the moon was directly over head. (I did this to see how close the Moon Guide was) The next day I was in the woods-(the swamps of florida) ...and I got there exactly 10 hours later then the moon being directly overhead to hunt. Saw deer moving and feeding the entire time and oh yeah...the temperature was in the low 90 degrees at the time.(so that blows the high temps they dont move theory out of the water too) Get one of these.......it does the math for you ahead of time Mine was off the first time i used it....turns out I forgot to change the time into the time zone I was in...if I had done so it would have only been off by 15 minutes to when the deer started moving and when they ended movement! *God's Honest Truth* Spin the weatherproof, 7-inch Moon Dial to any date from August 1 through January 31 to know when and where to hunt deer and big game. Field studies and radio telemetry suggest that the best time to be afield is when the moon is most directly overhead (now printed red) or underfoot (printed black). A handy illustration on the flip side of the Guide also shows how to rotate hunting locations in relation to moon position: Daily predictions are also given for where to hunt -- feeding areas, bedding areas, travel corridors -- for each day. P.S. You would be suprised how good the fishing is around these times too
buckbuster11
Re: rising, and falling moons I actually believe in the opposite. Just from my personal observations I have seen that when the moon is out before dark, deer wont be moving until it gets dark generally. Especially if its clear and the moon is real bright. JMO.
