western NY bowhunter
Finally, the snow's starting to melt off pretty good and I decided it was time to get out and do a little shed hunting this AM. The woods still have quite a bit of snow in them, but alot of the hayfields are now exposed. I ended up finding a nice 51+” 4-pt. side. It wasn’t much for tine length but had the most mass of any shed that I’ve ever found. Sorry...no pics...I gotta get a digital camera one of these days. Based on the size of the crown, I’d say that it was from a 4 yr. old buck that didn’t have the best genetics. I also found two winterikill fawns and saw a bachelor group of about 8 bucks that were all bald, including one that was a bruiser that definately looked like an older age class buck. Anyways, it sure is exciting to pick up the first shed of the year!
