Anyone getting big buck pics on trail cams?

Negative on that.  Biggest buck here so far, as of early July, has been an ear width 6 point with no brows.

Usually by now have gotten pics of at least one that gets me a little excited.  Had 2 mature bucks I passed on last year, that I know made it through our gun season, that have not shown back up.  Hoping to get something decent on cam soon, but at this point I have pretty low expectations for me for the 18-19 season.

Headed to Missouri Monday to set out our 10 cams for the initial run this year...so to answer your question...not yet.  I'll set another 5 cams in MS when I return.  MS whitetail bucks shed later than most  parts of the country so their antler growth runs a little behind most other areas.

Setting my cameras out this coming weekend. Had one shooter 10 point that I’m certain made it last year and a few borderline bucks that I’m anxious to see what they put on this year. I’ll post pics when I get them.

Finally had a couple decent bucks, I think 3.5 year olds, show up here on the last pull along with a mature buck that I believe may be the buck with the bad attitude that we passed on last year.  We thought the splintered buck was mature last year, likely 4.5, but his antlers were splintered by the time the youth hunt opened late October and it was clear from trail cam pics that he continued fighting on into December.  His antlers are nice on one side,  but a club on the other.  Regardless of his antlers he is a mature deer and one I will be after this fall, IF he is around.  Unless the decent ones grow a LOT over the next 4 to 5 weeks they will get a pass by me, but will be fair game for the girls.

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks Tim...nice to know there's some good ones that survived her close to home.  Got a few nice ones in MS during the 1st run here a week or so ago but still too early here to tell what they'll end up growing.  Headed to Missouri on 8/23 to run our cams for the 1st time there this year.  Should have some studs there.
