Any cord cutters out there?

It looks like our Direct TV bill went up again. Everytime it bumps up we call them and get it reduced a little, but still feel like we are over paying. Between everyone in the house we watch maybe 15 channels total. We have 6 TV's in the house so not sure if there are many options out there that make sense. Local channels & sports are pretty important in my house as well. I see Direct TV has a version called Direct TV now, there's Sling, Roku, etc. I'm open to any input or reviews.

Biggest downfall here is lack of high speed internet options that would support streaming from the services like you mention.  You would have to have pretty high speed internet to support a streaming service for multiple sets.

Yeah, the calls I have to make to the "retention dept" get old, been doing it for years with att and direct both.  Last time around with direct locked in for 2 years and got a genie with a couple mini's.  Reminds me I need to call att again for the 5th month in a row now, supposed to have a recurring $20 promo credit on our internet that lasts 12 months, but have to call every month to remind them, uggghhh.  Last month they once again promised I would not have to call next month, seems like a rigged deal.

Not much for options here where we are in the sticks, dish is worse than direct so not doing that, although dish is the first name I throw out to direct when bargaining with them.  Internet available here is not fast enough to support streaming at 4k on more than one set at a time.  Our power co is supposedly going to tie in landline/internet/cable on their lines, not gonna hold my breath that they run it the 1/4 mile run from the road, but then they can go aerial so maybe.  When if ever they do, will likely dump att/direct "monopoly".

Ever think about getting rid of your tv?

Most of society's ploblems can be traced back to that idiot box.

We don't own a tv.

I haven't for most of my adult life.

My wife hadn't owned one for a dozen years when we married.

We share the satisfaction that we don't need one to be happy.

I say Kill your television!

You and your family will be happier, smarter and more blessed without it.

We've got a massive re-model project going on.  Haven't had a TV since early July.  It's been nice.

That being said...………………….. 've got a wall ready for a 65"-70" smart flatscreen when this all gets over and done with.  But it'll be for news, weather and special occasions.  I believe our Direct TV package is going to get gutted to the bare minimum...…………….directly.
