MUDRUNNER
It finally feels like fall here in Illinois! Two days ago the high was 84....today the high is supposed to be 49 lol. Plan for tonight are to get to bed early. Plans for tomorrow morning are to get up at 3:30, head to the farm, and go shoot a deer. First sit of the year & the weather looks great! Tomorrow afternoon we may go pick apples & grab a few pumpkins. Evan's 12th birthday was Tuesday, so he is having some buddies stay the night Saturday night. Emma has a team bonding thing Saturday night, and a couple of scrimmage games on Sunday if the rain holds off.
Adjam5
Nice...Good luck in the field. The cold front has zoomed into here in NY also after the storm. Gonna get close to freezing(34) tomorrow night. That will get the deer moving. When my boys had sleep overs I always had fun with the Fox pro coyote call ?. Have fun. I am headed for my SS IMI exam today. Fingers crossed. Hoping they let me retire and give me full disability. I have a attorney on it. Both knees need replacements after 2 surgeries. 35 years is enough eh? Let alone in construction. Yup throwing in the towel and putting the pieces in place for us to move to Texas. Land bought already. Need to start building. Then headed up to deer camp for the weekend to meet son Joe, his fiance Sammy and my Grand dog Ruger( Charcoal Lab). I'll watch the dog while they hunt. Good luck to anyone who goes out and hunt safe!

Ravin R10 man
after my back problem, Spinal Stenosis, I had the lazer surgury which fixed it, but not suppose to lift more than 30 lbs. now. Lawyer said he was positive he could get me onto SSI, met with him and he told me I'd have an income cap, and cant make more than the monthly SSI check. I said "GOODBYE"!!! We have many geese holding in the area, and may go try for some of 'em this weekend, Ash and Breylen are coming over, so we will see what time we have to work with. I know we have the Corn maze at the farm Sat. scheduled, perhaps Breylen and I will sit for the eve feeding flocks, depending on weather etc. We have had snow here ground was white, but has melted off

Ultradog
Went up to the land yesterday. Picked up a front axle from a Ford 3400 and a pair of rear tires that I have sold. The buyers will stop by tomorrow to pick them up. There is a road kill doe right at my driveway up there. Sad to see one of "my deer" get wasted like that. I let the young guy bow hunt my other property again this year. He was up last weekend and saw 10 deer - all does and fawns - on the property. He also saw about 20 turkeys. I keep thinking I should try turkey hunting one of these years. We never had turkeys when I grew up there so I just don't think about going like I do deer hunting. Speaking of turkeys; I cooked a turkey yesterday. Just a store bought one. We stripped it and will boil down the carcass today in the pressure cooker to make stock for soups, etc. I went up last weekend too . did some brushing and sighted in my rifle. I had problems finding my way into the scope so I loosened it and moved it back about a little. I set up a target about 110 yds out. Took me 6 shots to dial it in. What a big improvement! Looking forward to the opener here - 3 weeks from yesterday.
Shaun_300
Cooling off here now too! Looks like tomorrow is the last day in above 50. Low of 27 Tuesday night. Fall is here woohoo! Think I'm going to go sit in the stand tonight for a few hours. Haven't been out yet this year. Was back to stand earlier to dump some apples from the yard and and clear the leaves off the floor of the stand. I haven't even set up a trail cam yet this year so not sure what we have in the area.
