Johnbuck88
Hey guys new here! Am going to be setting up my blind and stuff tomorrow for gun season nov 19th. But... am really confused where to place it without it messing everything up. These rubs here are there every year same spot. I’m pretty sure it’s the same buck he’s a older buck he’s a non typical 10 11 point well them might not be him but he’s around there I’ve gotten lot of pics saw him once. Lol course got buck fever didn’t even raise gun! Was nice to watch him gorgeous buck! But any who.. these rubs are below a soybean field around this field in a circle is all oaks so a lot of acorns.. I have 2 trails one takes me up to this field behind my house than around field and another trail takes me to my tree stand. The deer are running the guts out of these trails.. my grandma lives down in bottom yard behind her house this non typical came out when he was in velvet so I know he’s around there my dad said he was huge! I said yeah that’s the one I’ve been chasing! Ok so the one trail will call it the left trail other will be right trail in between these 2 trails we timbered I mean it’s so thick in there and the deer love it am pretty sure this is where the buck beds lives since it’s same place right behind up above my grandmas house. Ok so I want to stick my blind off of right trail in this opening beside this thick stuff and watch oaks on edge of field. I’d really love all the advice u can give me I’ve been chasing this gorgeous buck for few years it’s time to get him on the wall!
wtnhunt
Welcome to the forums. Kinda having a hard time picturing your property layout, a map would help. If it were me, with how you describe it I would probably try to see what the does are doing and setup on them. Here right now, they are hitting standing beans pretty hard, but also are hitting the acorns. With your setup being for rifle hunt 3 weeks away, what they are hitting on food today may not be the same then, but he will be after the does. If the beans will still be standing and if there are enough of them, the does will continue trying to feed in them.
Ravin R10 man
Yup, target the food source, acorns or beans. the does will go to food the buck will follow the does.

Johnbuck88
See here where I got circled is my land the X is where I wanna hunt at sort of gives u little more insight
wtnhunt
Do you have permission on the beans? What is the typical wind direction? Orientation of this map nsew? Looks like there is a road or trail just to the left of your line but still inside your circled part. I would probably be where I could get near the inside corner of the beans and still see as much of that trail as possible and try to locate where the wind would be in my face. Have to be conscientious however of the houses nearby and what directions you can safely shoot from in a ground blind. An elevated stand where the dirt is a backdrop might be a safer option to give more opportunities.
Johnbuck88
Been really thinking ive always jumped deer on the point to the left when I first started scounting last year jumped 11 point this year jumped 4 does sort of bedding off field in that point so they could see the field. Hmm the wind is quite weird because it swirls but I’m thinking if I can in behind my grandmas house and hunt there where X is they shouldn’t see or wind me from the thick stuff in between me and them and they don’t travel that way as much as they do the trails I made the one runs up beside the left point so they’d prob see me every time or I could set up behind them in the left point as it runs up hill very thick would have to clear some trash
Johnbuck88
I sure will, scouted a bit more there wasn’t no really good cover where I wanted to place blind found a thicket that has a trail running threw it. I use to hunt here years ago ended up seeing non typical 8 point his horns sort of swirled was gorgeous buck! Buck fever got me tho when I first started to bow hunt hahah! These deer seem to be using these trails a lot I got a bio rock and stuck down in this place they’ve been going crazy with it bringing lot more traffic to area. There’s sort of like cow tails on left side beside a pine tree I tucked my blind into. I’ve noticed there’s prob 6 8 deer bed down not to far away. Suppose to rain and snow first week gun season so let’s hope great buck pops in going be hard rut will be gone then be either lock down stage or post will be difficult. I’m use little doe estrus see what happens ?.
