Hope my RT brothers & sisters have a nice Thanksgiving! Since it's a short week for most I thought we would start our check-in thread early this week.

We are not traveling for the holiday. Our only plans are to go to the in-laws for turkey dinner tomorrow afternoon. Emma has softball practice on Sunday. Other than that I just plan to get some hunting sprinkled in & try to get Emma on a buck. Maybe sleep in & be a little lazy one day if the rain moves in like they are predicting.

Everyone have a Happy and safe Thanksgiving.  Wife and I celebrated our silver(25 years) anniversary yesterday.

As it stands right now, we have just our kids and son in law coming for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow.  Wife is working today and also has to work Friday, so home with my kids.  My old smoker went dead on me not too long back and have not replaced it yet, this is the first time I can remember in a looooong time that I am not smoking a turkey, bought a precooked hickory smoked turkey instead for this year.  Guess I will be cooking tomorrow at some point.  Plan to hunt some, maybe get Allison or Will out in a stand, there is a decent 7 around that I won't shoot but would be happy to see Allison, our youngest daughter(13) shoot him.

Happy Thanksgiving to all you folks south of the border. We had ours back in early October.

My better half and I are both sick with the cold. Ended up coming home around noon yesterday. She checked my temp and it was 102.2 so I loaded up on some meds and relaxed and slept on the couch. Woke up this morning feeling pretty nasty so I told the boss I wasn't coming in. I'm not one to lay around so once I was up for a while and feeling decent we went to get a coffee and go for a little drive. Almost 200 miles and 4 hours later we were home lol.

Getting chilly up here. Low of -6 with a windchill of -18°F tomorrow night. Already have 6+ inches of snow on the ground. Up in the hills where we were earlier had at least a foot. Looks like we're in for a long winter!

Everybody have a Happy Thanksgiving.

By the President of the United States of America, a Proclamation.

"Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor—and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.

"Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be. That we may then all unite in rendering unto (H)im our sincere and humble thanks—for (H)is kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation—for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of (H)is Providence, which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war—for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed—for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted—for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.

"(A)nd also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions—to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually—to render our national government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed—to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord. To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the encrease of science among them and us—and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

"Given under my hand at the City of New York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789."

Dinner at Mom's at supper time.

We'll be in the Christmas tree fields early in the morning.  Our 18" of rain ABOVE normal (it freakin rains here all the time ANYWAYS) has made the going really bad in the mud.  Last weekend we had some moderate problems getting done what we needed to do because even the 4x4's (trucks AND tractors) were barely cutting it.  Supposed to get down around 10 degrees tonight and not above 23 or so tomorrow.  So maybe it'll give us a break as far as traction goes.

Our butts will be whooped come turkey time.

Happy Thanksgiving to all the Realtree family !!!!

My wife and I are hosting my in laws and our three sons. Rare to have them all here at once now.  My son Joe which many of you know is doing great. Engaged to a great gal who loves to hunt and is quite good at it also. Middle son AJ is a NYPD officer in the South Bronx. Yes...THAT South Bronx. He is practically engaged to a teacher and doing good. Youngest son Mike finishing his Grad year(5th) at Albany business school and has a job waiting for him by KPMG. An accounting firm in NYC.

I am just about retired, papers in and wife and I looking forward to the Texas Hill Country for retirement.

Super cold here in the single digits. Have not been hunting the last few days. Good luck to all who go out.

For all the above and more, I give thanks.

Bless everyones Thanksgiving and God Bless America.
