CO2

If, what is stated in the video is correct, those statistics (minus the Australian tax issue) are somewhat interesting in the fact that nothing is mentioned about how much of a change in CO2 percentage (estimated at .04% of the air we breathe) it takes to increase or decrease ambient temperature on earth.  The carbon load from one forest fire that burns for several weeks is undoubtedly higher than all carbon emissions from burning fossil fuels over the course of an entire year.  Which, in a nutshell, merely points out that there are many factors contributing to the greenhouse effect.  The biggest issue is human population and the resulting increase in the amount of land deforested and covered in concrete.  If one is to look at an infrared image of earth, the hot spots are obviously the cities, and they are ever expanding.  Deforestation of the Amazon basin is a major factor.

The video is another one-sided view of an issue that will change the face of the earth.  Maybe .01% is a big change in the overall scheme of things.   The stating of facts without a good reference to the relevance of those facts means little.  I can understand their being against a tax that will be a huge financial burden and in all probability have little if any positive results.

The earth has gone through climate changes for far longer than humans have been around and that mere blink of an eye we've been here has not been without bad environmental choices on our part.  Common sense on our part would be nice but seems to get lost in political rhetoric.  I would like to see information concerning the cost (money wise) and carbon load caused by construction and maintenance of wind mills (environmental impact) and batteries (toxic waste).  Solar panels are another option but once again there is the storage/battery issue.

Sorry for the long post.  I find this issue very interesting as we circle the wagons on both sides and neither side wants to give.  It is far more complicated than most people realize.   We really should be leaving the smallest carbon footprint we can and the day may come when giving up some of the luxuries we have come to rely on will be the only answer.
