would or did you enter a deer that will make the books? I have 2 deer from the past that should and I never got them officially scored and now this year the mule I got I got a buddie[official scorer] to score him out, he said coem back nov 23 after the 60 day drying period and he will rescore it and score my other 2 for the books,

I just wanted to see what it would score so I brought it to him, would you enter it? I would of 4 years ago but all the contriversy with the Wayne Zaft buck and how they treated him turned me off for a bit!! Just wondering what everyones opinion was on this matter!!

Re: P&Y???

haven't had to worry about that---if I did I would probably enter it.

Concerning the Zaft buck. Do you really think they screwed him over. I have looked at that rack several times and it does look like that those 2 tines share a common base? Not taking anything away from the buck---he was a great buck and anyone would be proud---but I don't think the entire panel had something against him.

Re: P&Y???

DOgdoc, I ahve held the zaft buck in my hands, I have pics of the two tines and sure they are close but the veins and seperate, I have seen alot of deer and it is seperate and would be in any other curcumstance, they only did it couse of the supposid contriversy of the way he hit it and found it,and the uproar of soemone shootign a huge deer that always happens, it was all set up!He sot the shaft big time !!ALl I know is there are many deer out there and as long as the veins sepperate the tines its sepperate tines,My buddy is a scoreer for P&Y and B&C and in his training courses all over he took all over this deer had sepperate tines, he has no idea why either thye did that!! It was scored as a typ untill the review at the P&Y convention when they got together and decided becosue of the contiversy they woudl make it a non typ point, I admit it was close but the reason they went the way they did was becouse of the reason he did not find it the farmer did and the outcrys from all the peopel who only wish they could see a deer that big let alone get one! MAn this topic ticks me off, thanks doc I think I made my decision again LOL!! grin.gif

AJ I agree with you to, I do not go to any of the scoring nights if I do I do not bring my heads, I believe to many peopel are in it for a compition, I love huntign and love gettign the big deer but I am not out to get a 160" deer each year, I want a deer that looks good, is mature and I will be proud of!! Score does not mean much to me!Yet on the other hand I think it would eb cool for my grandkids ot look in the P&Y books 75 years from now and see there grandpas name in there, just a cool memeory thign is what I am thinking! But with the memories that darn dogdoc got em rethinking I think i will say screw P&Y LOL!!! cool.gif

Re: P&Y???

glad I could help grin.gifgrin.gif

I am in no way a scorer and don't know all the details in determining if the tines share the same base. I still know that was an awesome buck and one of the most beautiful racks i have ever seen (only by pics)---I'm sure it is just as nice in person.

I hope he bought that farmer that found his deer a 6-pack grin.gif!

Re: P&Y???

I entered my 135 incher last year in the NY State Record book. I have not entered it into P and Y yet, partly because there is no scorer in my immediate area. I plan to someday.

As far as the Zaft buck - I too think he got the shaft in a major way. The one tine in question is supposed to be an abnormal point, right? I have talked to him at a show and saw the rack. It is among the most symetrical racks I have seen, so I have a hard time seeing their "point" as to the abnormalities.

Like I said - he got ripped, I feel for the poor guy.

Hope he enjoyed the ride while it lasted.

Re: P&Y???

Thats a tough question for me. I agree with AJ for the most part, however, if it were a "world" record type buck...I'd prob. have to have it scored and entered. I'm only human, to harvest an animal like that would (I think) only better my life. With the money that came along with it, I could get out of debt and maybe get away from this midnight shift. If it was "just" (and I don't mean that in a bad way) a book buck, I'd prob. enter it in the Buckmasters scoring system because I like how they give credit to all the bone and no deductions. crazy.gif
