Shaun_300
Made a trade deal on another new toy! Coyotes won't know what hit them. Always wanted a "Roy" and have just acquired one. Hoping to have it by the end of next week. Remington 700 CDL SF .257 Wby Mag, has a Bell and Carlson stock on it, 26" barrel, Timney trigger and will be wearing a Nikon Monarch 3 4-16x50.? I'll get some better pics when it's in my hands all set up!
wtnhunt
Congratulations Shaun, looks like a nice find. Those have a 24 or 26 inch barrel? Pretty sure those were limited runs on the 257 wby mag with an engraved floor plate. A CDL sf has been on my want list for some time. Found some good deals too but never have pulled the trigger. I did get my varmint sf in 308 a few years back. With the current state of affairs with our upside down self serving govt, I am somewhat hesitant these days to post too much. Read the other day that New Zealand had low compliance on their gun confiscations, so they are now using social media to find offenders. Shaun_300
It has a 26 inch barrel. The .257 Weatherby chambering was a limited run. My personal favorite is the one with the grey laminate stock, but they are nearly impossible to find. I may end up getting a Boyd's stock in their pepper laminate, which is the same colour as Remingtons grey laminate. I don't believe this has the engraved floor plate. I traded a CDL SF 7mm-08 for this. Since I got my .280 Remington, the 7mm-08 kind of got a back seat. I miss my .25-06, so I ended up getting this, which is basically a .25-06 on steroids! It will launch 100gr at 3700fps. And should push the 75gr to the 4000-4100 mark. Should be a good shooter. I love the 700 platform. I'd love to get into some long distance shooting, this is a great candidate to do that. Next step is make a trip into the city and grab some dies, powder, bullets and some magnum primers. wtnhunt
Been a fan of the 700's as well. I thought most or all of the cdl stainless fluted came from remington with the laminated wood stock? Assumed the bell and carlson was swapped in. I have considered a boyd stock for my old 700 in .270, they do have some really nice options. I have had one just the way I want it and ready to order just never did order it. Have fun working up some loads for it. Should be able to get some great deer loads as well. I need to run some rounds through the chronograph with a couple soon. I know the .308 loads I have been hunting with are not gonna work with my new .308, have mostly only shot factory loads through it so far, still in break in. Shaun_300
Yeah the bell and Carlson was swapped on, it originally came like my 7-08 pictured below.

Shaun_300
Should be Don. I am crawling the walls like a kid at Christmas lol. Delivery date says by Wednesday. Think I'll go to Ottawa tomorrow and grab a box of ammo or two and some bases or one piece talley rings.
im your huckleberry
Nice find! You will love that caliber. Works like a darn on deer hits them like a quarter bore thor's hammer. Deer are not safe with that even flat out running. Shooting deer seems effortless its there so fast you will be jaw drop impressed. Just remember if you reload you might want to check throat lead because 257 roy has freebore in mark v not sure if Remington does. Have some fun tuning coyotes in but dont heat barrel up it eat your accuracy up from throat erosion from heat and gases.
Shaun_300
Well here it is! Arrived this morning, mounted the scope with one piece talley rings. Even with that big scope on it the rifle only weighs 8 1/2lbs. Very light! Can't wait to shoot it!
Shaun_300
Got out back and got the scope dialed in this morning. This rifle is amazing! That timney trigger is unreal! Here's a few groups. Printed these targets off because I was out of real ones. The squares are only 5/8" lol. First 3 shot group after getting close. Enlarged the lower hole. Last two groups. Final one was the 3 holes circled together. I think I'm in business! Not bad for resting on some pallets in -17 weather, and factory ammo. wtnhunt
Sweet setup Shaun, looks like you got it dialed in. Man that scope was close with those rings, your front cap looks pretty tight. Guess I missed that you got the rifle with a timney trigger. Highest end trigger on any of my rifles is a jp.
Shaun_300
Yeah its probably about an eighth of an inch with the flip cap on William. Got its first kill with it this afternoon. Went out, blew the rabbit in distress call a few times and within 5 minutes two of them came running in. Silly me wasn't prepared and rushed, missed the first shot then it was a full bore run broadside. Hit it in the back leg, then finally rolled it with the third shot. Man it was fun! It happened so fast, honestly I'm surprised I was able to bring myself together and get it done.?
