GPS

Maine Hntr

Recommended Posts

This ones for you Martin, I'll start something to see if we can get a quick thread going. Does anyone own or use a handheld GPS for hiking, hunting, etc.? I don't hunt many places that it's really required but I do hunt some deep woods in Maine that I thought it would be nice to have one in case I wanted to just get out and explore sometime without getting worried about getting turned around. I recently purchased the Garmin 64st handheld unit, a middle of the road unit with pretty good reviews, Topo map capability, etc. They've got some pretty expensive touch screen units on the market that do more than what I bought but I didn't think I needed all of that and some of the reviews on those units simply weren't great.

So let's hear it, anyone else own GPS unit or do you go old school and just know where you are or use compass and map, etc.?
