wtnhunt
State's site with their numbers seems to be about 2 days behind, makes me wonder how accurate the real time numbers are. Media sources are confirming positive cases about 2 days before the TN.gov site updates to reflect those additions. Over 500 cases here and more and more cases closer to home. fly
Today's Update: My girlfriend (recently moved in with me) is an OR nurse but they re-assigned her to screening people for the virus and then to work on the floor where COVID-19 positive patients are being cared for. She came home yesterday with a cough, headache, and general tiredness (no fever). We felt it best to isolate her in the spare back room for now. She is not allowed back in the hospital until cleared by HR. She has not been tested as the symptoms developed right after she left work yesterday. I had to make repairs to her condo (necessary to pass inspections) as she closes in early April. I went to Home Depot and they have instituted a 100 person at a time limit. There is a line of people waiting to get in. I ran by the grocery store and still no toilet paper but they had bread (limit 2 packages per person). Plexiglass was up to protect the cashiers. wtnhunt
Hope your girlfriend recovers fully and quickly Frank. The nursing home Catrina runs is doing their best to keep their residents out of the hospitals. There has only been 3 cases confirmed for that rural county and only 2 to date in the county we live in. I am hopeful that they can keep this from spreading and her getting it. Bad thing is a stomach bug and flu are still active, throw in seasonal allergies and people may not know they have it.
wtnhunt
Governor yesterday pushed schools to not open back up until April 24th. Supposedly there is something in the works with local PBS stations to bring educational content over the air. Realistically I doubt at this point our kids step foot back in the school buildings for classes the remainder of this school year. Hopefully this all settles down soon. More data with today's report, now including hospitalization numbers. This week they started showing numbers for tests NOT conducted by the state lab. Nearly 12000 total tests conducted. Today's update reported another death, makes 3. Report says 53 hospitalizations. Total case count now at 784 statewide, yesterday was at 667. fly
Good news! My girlfriend's cough was gone this AM and her headache. No fever and no symptoms. Guess it was just a cold or something. Anyway, IL numbers: Positive tests: 1,865 and 19 deaths.

Just curious, is the hospital testing her anyway to see if she had one of those mild cases? Symptoms seem to be extremely broad, could be she had a mild case and a strong immune system? Would surprise me if they did not test to be on the safe side with the concerns for carriers. On the other side of the extremes, read a story this morning about a healthy 21 year old that died from this virus. Supposedly blood type is a factor as well as which strain a person gets in how bad or how mild the symptoms are.
im your huckleberry
Showed up for work on the 16 and was sent home because every place I haul in or out of was doing an isolation. So far the wife and I are good. The wife works in the deli of a grocery store and they are very strict on cleaning equipment, and hands before serving anyone, luckily not many people are getting deli sliced meats. The only outtings I do is take the wife to work and pick her up, then is back home to get lazy and do Netflix from the couch. The boss phoned and told me we would be back up and running on monday. Now a driver can't even walk through the drive thru to get a coffee, maybe it's time to take the kw with the deck through there but a 53' tri axle trailer would probably take the squawk box out because those darn tight corners. NS whitetail
As of now our lobster season that closes on May 31 is at a stand still and is probably going to be shut down, so I will b out of work.
im your huckleberry
Just for you fellows if you can find any disinfectant. Spray nine website does confirm that it does kill covid 19 in as little as 45 second when instructions on the bottle are followed.
wtnhunt
Numbers are confusing to say the least. A Nashville station has been accurate with their numbers everyday for Davidson county. They stay ahead of the government site. As of this afternoon statewide total of confirmed cases was at 1203, however that has Davidson with only 216 and yesterday afternoon there were 293 confirmed in that county. Shelby county confirmed cases have jumped significantly. Total tested is up to 16093. County to the south of us now has a drive up testing center so expect those numbers to go up. Hospitalizations 103, and the fatalities number doubled to 6. Real shame some people are not following recommendations and orders. Biggest group of positives is the 21-30 age group. Ravin R10 man
Since I'm working every day..not really into the news all that much on the virus...was surprised to see the dramatic jump in N.Y. this week...but....then I see videos of high up officials the second week of March, telling people to go about your normal life, this is not that serious...same down at New Orleans, go to Mardi Graw..etc...wow

The hospital is screening all employees but not testing. If employees have a fever and other symptoms they get tested. Silly I think - especially if you don't meet the criteria for testing and end up spreading it to everyone in the hospital. Tetradarchy
Only the basic necessities store are open here and people are all buying the toilet papers, I just can't understand what these people are thinking, it's as if toilet papers can protect them from the virus. NS whitetail
Just heard two days ago that our trout season which is supposed to open April 1 has been pushed back till at least May 1. Makes no sense to me , as of now I am allowed to go in public and buy booze and cannabis or go through driv thrus in restaurants but I can’t go back in the woods to a brook all by myself to try and catch a trout. Makes no sense what’s so ever.
Ravin R10 man
Our Steelhead season opened here, no prob. spent a good part of Sat out walking my woods shed hunting, and found a few. Dead deer count is two so far. My woodlot wintered around 50 or more deer as standing corn was on both sides. Needless to say , you cant find a cob with any corn on it now! Deer look like Feeder Steers!
fly
Update: I have learned that a major hospital in St Louis is dedicating several patient floors for COVID-19 positive patients. There currently are about 70 positive patients. Another floor is being dedicated for more positive patients coming in. The number will be at 100 soon. Once admitted with the virus visitors are not allowed.
wtnhunt
Some sad stories coming out around here over the weekend. Tennessee cases expected to skyrocket. Country music singer songwriter Joe Diffie was said to have tested positive on Friday, he passed away from covid19 early Sunday, he was 61 years old. Nursing home rehab center in middle Tennessee has 23 residents positive, 2 died over the weekend. Report I read said one positive employee started the spread and 30 some odd employees have now tested positive. New update this morning has 59 additional residents of that home also testing positive. Local case numbers expected to tick upward with drive thru testing. However results will not be made public by Tennessee Dept of health in a timely manner. As of this morning there were 1884 confirmed cases in the state and 10 deaths according to a Nashville report. With all the seniors at the one home testing positive, afraid that number may rise dramatically.
NS whitetail
My daughter is a nurse in a local hospital. She told me the story and showed me a video yesterday which brought tears to my eyes. The volunteer fire department which is close to her hospital showed up the other day in the hospital parking lot in full force with all their trucks and they all got out and saluted the nurses and doctors in the hospital. I thought that was so awesome.
wtnhunt
Math.... Someone please correct me if I am mistaken. 1 million tests conducted, 330 million people in this country. So 1 in every 330 people in this country at the current have been tested? 160 thousand plus positives of that 1 million, 1 in 16 positive of those tested? The experts still say some will have this and recover and never know they had it, don't imagine those folks have any reason to get tested. Tennessee numbers will eclipse 2000 positive cases today. Deaths related to Coronavirus was at 16. A lot more local positives being reported. Another nursing home in middle Tennessee has had a positive test of an employee. Guess my takeaway from my math perspective is that someone at the store you run into does have this.
NS whitetail
There is a nursing home in Ontario Canada that had 9 deaths. You are right William , my thoughts exactly —— stay home unless it’s necessary. Protect yourself. Be cautious and be aware of you surroundings at all times. This is something no one has every seen and it’s here to stay for a long time.

That is terrible. I have heard that Tennessee is allowing family members in to homes only for residents that are at end of life situations. Otherwise no visitors without exception. All it takes though is one and they may not even be symptomatic. Hoping the home Catrina runs can continue to avoid having any staff or residents get it. The Bug House
We've been on lockdown for 3 weeks now, schools canceled until Sept. at the earliest. Still empty shelves in the paper goods, canned food, frozen and meat counters. Supermarkets have limited the amount of people allowed in at once and the Governor has cracked down on non essential businesses after issuing several orders. state police have been going to lodging businesses to make sure they're in compliance. There are also monitoring checkpoints at all entrance points to the State. Not stopping anyone yet, but keeping track on out of state plates coming in. The amount of people who have fled the NYC area is alarming to say the least. There has been a growing sense of resentment and it is very tense out there to say the least. I have 2 high risk children, so I've moved into our vacant rental unit and maintaining distance from my family for the time being. I'm quite grateful that we are in the situation we are, my income hasn't been affected and I can still come home (almost) and at least see the family every night. I'm a Respiratory Therapist at a relatively large hospital, we've been at DEFCON5 for weeks now. we've converted one of our ICU's into a 40 bed COVID cohort, there are also 30 additional negative pressure beds available. There are contingency plans for more. We have the capability for ~150 ventilators. I also feel grateful because we're well funded and have solid people in our emergency response positions. The vast majority of our PPE is reusable, we are currently using 7700 respirators, goggles, gowns and extended cuff gloves. Looks as if there is a strong possibility of a surge this week or next. There are no visitors allowed, and all elective surgery and clinic activity has been canceled for now. It's eerily empty in the halls. We've been running Code blue and airway drills every 2 hours every other day. Today I was drafted to head up a "proning team" where we prone and supine the really sick patients. Quite the task on those intubated patients while wearing full airborne PPE. I'm also one of the ECMO specialists and we've been ready to go on that front as well. I am definitely stressed out to the max, but I am also grateful that our lives haven't been disrupted more than it has. Trout and Turkey season HAVE NOT been canceled or delayed here thankfully!
