Back in fields again, we are planting corn now. People are pretty much back out, but keeping social distance and some wearing masks. Our Fire and Ambulance Mtg Monday eve, went well, and last eve our Town Mtg., we had our bid opening for a road contruction project. One person at each mtg wore a mask..everyone else pretty much kept apart and all went well. Our county still only has 2 cases positive.  Drive up testing here Thurs. but you must have symptoms to be tested.

Not much to report except a lot of people are accusing the IL governor of embellishing the COVID numbers to gain more federal money. I would not doubt it. The problem is he extended the stay at home mandate which keeps many people out of work. Hope this is about to end.  On another note: I have a closing date for my new house on June 8th and a closing date for my current house on June 12th. Great timing!

Glad to hear things worked out so well for you Frank.  Congrats on the new house.

Covid numbers here the past few days seem to be slowing.  Actually had a negative 2 in the deaths column yesterday, not sure how that is possible unless they are admitting an error from the day prior.

All nursing homes in the state are in the process of being tested now, staff and residents all to be tested.

Things here are good. As far as I know , no one within 200 miles of where I live has had the virus. We put our lobster traps back out in the ocean last week to fish till the season closes may 31. Therefore I will make a springs work. I was getting real tired of laying around lol. Our trout season was finally opened may 1 after a month delay. Some businesses are starting to open up again. However, I don’t think we will ever see “ normal “ again. Hope everyone is doing well , take care ?

Wife got word yesterday afternoon late from the state epidemiologist that she has a housekeeper at her nursing home that has tested positive.  Housekeeper had stomach bug symptoms and NO fever when she got tested last Thursday or Friday.  Nightmare for the wife began after that call, within a short time her phone was being blown up.  Rapid testing of all residents and staff start today.

They had done well under the stay at home orders, did not take long after restrictions were eased, just what she feared.

Christina, our oldest daughter went in to a clinic with stomach bug symptoms and no fever Saturday, they tested her, but don't know her results yet.  She was sure it was not covid and planned to come visit us, glad she didn't.

Numbers here last I checked have slowed down, however hospitalizations are still growing each day.

I need to go to tractor supply and Lowe's sometime this week.  Seriously thinking about using my scentlok face mask, supposedly activated carbon is somewhat effective for virus protection.

Feels so good to be back to work. It's a little different with all the protocols in place, but at least I can actually earn a good paycheck again.

Now we just need the weather to get better. It actually snowed while I was on the water today lol. I see 60s and 70s in the forecast once we get through the weekend!

Tennessee scored an F on social distancing.

Made it to town yesterday to Lowe's and tractor supply.  Tractor supply store had no customers.  Lowe's had several, most wearing masks, some of the Lowe's employees had masks on around their necks or under their nose.  Kind of funny to me seeing people wearing the cheap cotton masks or bandanas in their cars.

I will continue to avoid Walmart for the stupid people. Catrina said it was bad last time she went, majority of customers in the store were disregarding the arrows in the aisles marking direction and were not social distancing.

Numbers here are still up and down but certainly not flat.

Have not heard results on Christina's test yet.

The IL Governor (also known as fat tax boy) extended the stay at home order even after admitting that the numbers of COVID deaths were inaccurate as to the actual cause of death. Oh, he also sent his wife to Florida on vacation!  The county officials (where I live) voted to go against fat boy and started opening businesses on Wednesday in a 4 phase approach as advised by the county health department. Will be interesting to see how fat boy responds.

Tennessee numbers while not seeing significant ongoing spikes continue to rise.  The new infected rate seems to be between two and three times the rate of daily recoveries.  Total dead over 400, and hospitalizations approaching 2000.

Hope the second wave some experts are calling to hit this fall does not happen.

Restrictions being loosened posing major risks for Tennessee's elderly and vulnerable.  Too many people have this and despite the awareness don't know they have it.  Catrina had a nurse this morning that called in, throwing up and stomach pain.  That nurse worked yesterday but also works another job with hospice, no telling what they may have been exposed to and possibly exposed the residents to.

Things here in Nova Scotia are getting back to a somewhat normal. Most things are opening back up. Overall we have not done that bad. NS has a population of around one million, only around 1100 people have had covid. We have had 60 deaths and I think 56 of them was in one nursing home in the city of Halifax. As far as I know there has not been one case within 200 miles of where I live.

Single highest number by far on today's report for new cases.  Will be the highest number of new cases this week for the second week in a row.  Daily deaths are staying in double digits and seeing increasing hospitalization numbers.

Things here are not looking good.  Schools were still supposedly on track to re open for the 2020-2021 school year at the first of August.  Given the current rise will be interesting to see how the situation evolves.

The economic impact will be felt for years.  Unfortunately, the impact here is multiplied because of the reliance on tourism.  With the border closed even the grocery stores have been down over 60% and are struggling to keep employee numbers up.  Many small businesses that were forced to close will not recover.

To put things in perspective as for the Covid-19 direct impact; there have been 21 deaths linked to the virus this year and 78 deaths caused by motor vehicle accidents here in Montana.  There have been 17 deaths linked to influenza since the start of the flu season and almost 12,000 reported cases of influenza compared to just over 700 cases of Covid-19.

Being retired and a homebody, there has been virtually no impact on my life and the mountains here don't care anyway.

New case numbers are troubling here for sure.  Tennessee is today again seeing a record high number of new cases, significantly higher than the previous single day record high number.  New hospitalizations are staying around 50+ a day.  Locally new cases are seeing bigger jumps too.

Catrina's nursing home now is testing all staff weekly.  Not sure the frequency of testing on the residents.  A home in the group under her employer about an hour from here has a nightmare on its hands with 16 employees testing positive just last week.  Those numbers are still not reflected on the states website so still some very serious questions on how much lag there is in their reporting.

Me, I am not going to be going inside anywhere I don't absolutely have to.  Doing more online ordering for some grocery items.  Picked up some sirloin tip roast from sams Monday morning to trim and grind.  Used their online ordering, brought the meat out to me in the parking lot.

As the restrictions tighten again because of the surge in reported cases, local businesses will struggle to survive.  It is to be expected that as people start to move about more there will be an increase in virus transmission.  There is also a lot more testing which does not necessarily mean more cases, just more detected cases.  Oddly enough, here in Montana most of the new cases are linked to weddings and bars. One thing I find interesting is that most of the physicians think that wearing masks has little if any positive effect.  Keeping in mind that the Covid-19 virus is 0.125 microns in size and a surgical mask (not an N95 mask) only filters out particles 0.3 microns or larger, it is obvious that the wearing of masks is flawed logic.  Very few people wear a surgical mask and almost all do not wear masks correctly.  All of the canceled events that would normally help fund charities and other community services will have a ripple affect for months or even years.  The tightening and easing of restrictions multiple times will only lengthen the impact.  I think we should get back to life and just let it play out.

It is quite obvious that Covid-19 is not the "deadly disease" it is made out to be.  With a death toll of around 4% of confirmed cases (there are undoubtedly many more cases) and .04% of the US population, I would not call that deadly.
