hangunnr
Check out this pic of the new Federal Flitecontrol wad. The front end is on the left. I sent a box of these down range today. I wasn't terribly impressed with the patterns but think the trouble was too tight a choke in my gun. With the solid front end on these and a very stiff shot cup I feel a more open choke would produce better results. The wads routinely went past the target while shooting at 40yds. Gotta wonder just how much engineering time went into this thing. hangunnr

western NY bowhunter
Re: Federal Flitecontrol wad..... I bought a box today at Wallyworld and got the chance to fire a couple before dark...and I think that I'll have to stick with my Winchester HV's. I got the Fed. Magnum 3" #6's (I wanted the Fed. HV's but they didn't have 'em), and tried them at 30 yds. First shot...really tight and even pattern but was high and to the right. I thought that I musta flinched. I shot again and the second shot was more scattered and hit higher than the first. I had a good rest and know that I didn't flinch. My brother tried one outta his 870 and it hit high too. I'm using a XXXfull comp-n-choke so maybe the constriction is a little too tight. The wads do travel pretty far...I only found one outta the 3 that we shot. I'll probably shoot a couple more tomorrow and maybe try a couple out of a standard factory full choke.
robk
Re: Federal Flitecontrol wad..... i myself after seeing this won't change either as i will stay with my winchester supreme 3 inch hv double magnums. you may of gotten away with something but i would check your barrel and make sure you yhaven't pitted it. rob k
Fullfan
Re: Federal Flitecontrol wad..... Well I was a hevi Shot man untill I shot the new federals, 3 1/2" # 5 1 7/8 oz heviweights. Shot out of a Super X-2 with a Tru-Glo Tube. 104 hits in a 10" circle at 40 yds, this combo is awsome. But I would not want to attempt to shoot at a bobbing red head at 20 yds.. Federals heviweight----- Pass it on

borch
Re: Federal Flitecontrol wad..... I picked up and box of the Federeal 3" HV in #5 shot with the Flitecontrol wad and also a box of the Winchester 3" HV in #5 shot. I'm waiting for another choke to come in and I'll put them and several others throuhg the paces. I wasn't able to pick up the new Federal heavyweights. The places I checked were out of them. I'll probably make it out to pattern in the next couople of weeks. I'll post my result when I do. Borch
kooter
Re: Federal Flitecontrol wad..... these shells didn't pattern to well out of my gun, but I can relate to the wad going down range. I was shooting at 30 yards with my target on a cardboard box. the wad was beating the heck out of the box. The winchesters I shot also, the wad never even made it to the box. snapper
Re: Federal Flitecontrol wad..... [ QUOTE ] wacoyote bought federal flitecontrol wad #4 and #6 but after testing both with my mossberg the #4 did fair with 8 to 11 bb's around the neck and brain area of the turkey but the #6 shot spreaded father apart with around 6 bb's near the vital areas of the turkeys neck & brain.. hangunnr
Re: Federal Flitecontrol wad..... I intend to run another box of these down range this weekend after my new SX2 comes in. I've got quite an array of chokes that'll fit the new gun. I have a feeling this shell will perform better with a more open choke. Time will tell...... hangunnr
Guest kracey
Re: Federal Flitecontrol wad..... I am having great results with this shell. I shoot the Federal 12 guage Flight Control #6's 2.0oz (3 inch) and I am getting awesome patterns. I dont know what the choke restriction is but its just the choke tube that came with the gun.
