Ultradog
They normally are released August 1st but for some reason were released about 10 days early this year. 8/1 was always a date I looked forward to in the count down to the opener. I would buy my license then and apply for the doe permit. Those had to be in by the 1st week in Sept to be eligible for the lottery which was another date in the count down. I don't mind. We can take two deer again this year. Only one buck. No use to run out and get your license though. Anyway. It's less than 100 days till the opener now. I have all the materials to build the new deer blind and will get started on that soon.
wtnhunt
Changes here this year with our county going into the cwd zone. We are a high risk county with no positives, but the regs have it so that there are loads of opportunities to kill countless deer. The Tennessee commission for a change has been be honest in their goals, they want to pretty well decimate the deer herd in the entire cwd zone. "No deer, no cwd transmission." Since prions in the environment are viable for decades any deer entering an "infected" area could possibly become a victim of CWD and I therefore declare that thought "null and void". No deer, no hunting is more like it. It may hold water with humans and Covid though.

All it takes is a couple in an area to ruin the hunting. Just have to hope there are enough neighboring property owners here to understand that this mindset does not make for sound management of the whitetail population. wtnhunt
Actually got this below in an email last week Quote Last year, in Unit CWD, deer harvest was significantly down. Without removing more deer from the landscape, CWD will continue to spread. Hunters can help! Help us in the fight against CWD by harvesting more deer this year. The fewer deer there are, the fewer CWD positive deer there are which will decrease disease transfer. They are promoting landowners giving more permission and killing as many deer as possible in the cwd zone.
Ravin R10 man
thats like saying staying home and quarantee to stop c-19. so killing off all the deer will stop the prions from existing? Riiiight!

Unless the spread is NOT a result of prions. Seems they are contradictory to the information they put out. Our commission has been promoting killing more deer since well before cwd was acknowledged. Yeah right, just like there are no mountain lions here. They deny such until their hand is forced. Long before cwd we had liberal limits allowing 3 does a day all season long.
