elkoholic
Over the past week I have been serenaded by the sounds of nature as I lay in bed waiting for sleep to come. This chorus of vocalizations happens quite frequently here in the "wilds" of northwest Montana. The screams of a mountain lion or the snarls of a bobcat can be hair raising when heard as one is trying to drift off to sleep. The growl of an angry cow moose (probably trying to protect her calf) can be a little disturbing too. Deer snorting and fawns calling to their mothers and elk cows and calves talking to each other. This past week the first elk bugles of the season rang down from the ridge above my house. It was a very interesting week with each night a cacophony of sound. I loved it! wtnhunt
Think the most often heard critters after dark here are owls and frogs. We have bobcats around, but rare to hear them. Hear coyotes too often though, especially after crops are harvested and archery season opens.
Ravin R10 man
yup, we got sandhill cranes, crows, yotes, a wolf once in a while, geese, and like Dave said, a whitetail will blow. Our Robins have flown south, so they dont greet us with a cheerful song in the morning any longer.
