Y'all want to fall in line and do what the Government tells you, well be my guest. I'm not.

I was a hard NO on taking the vaccine.  MY decision had absolutely nothing to do with anything the government said.  I was strongly encouraged to get vaccinated by primary care dr, wife and my cardiologist.  After much of my own research and seeing how Catrina got sick and had some issues with her blood pressure with the second dose of moderna I was still on the fence, I said I would only get the johnson and johnson vaccine.  I was eligible to get the vaccine beginning of this month.  Found where the johnson and johnson vaccine was available, called and made an appointment and got it.  Had flulike symptoms for about a day or so and sore shoulder for nearly a week.  The johnson and johnson vaccine is similar to the flu shot, it does NOT use mrna.  I know I can still get covid, but chances of serious illness or death from covid with the vaccine is near zero.  A requirement for vanderbilt before admission for my upcoming repairs is to be tested again, or be vaccinated.

President Trump has on more than one occasion called on all Americans to get vaccinated.

I got my second Moderna several weeks ago.  The nurse warned me that that any side effects would come 12 hours later and it sure did.  Woke up exactly 12 hours later with a fever.  I kept it at bay with tylenol and motrin.  15 hours later it disappeared.  I was a little dizzy the next morning but by afternoon I was right as rain and have been since.

The thought that having to have proof (a "vaccine card") of being vaccinated to gain entrance to various facilities or events is a little concerning.  For those opposed to the vaccine that would create a conundrum.  You may need a vaccine card to get in the grocery store.  There are still to many unanswered questions about the various vaccines, and the ability of the virus to mutate.  The reason there was a drop in reported covid cases was social distancing or simply keeping people separated.  That simple fact is what brought about the tremendous drop in influenza cases this year.  It had nothing to do with any vaccines.  As life returns to normal (what ever that is), there is once again an upswing in reported cases.  In a mobile society there is no way to halt the transmission of various diseases.   It remains to be seen if the morbidity and mortality is reduced by the vaccines, or, if there is little or no change as has been observed by the influenza vaccines pushed by the CDC every year.

I may be considered as having a cold heart in saying this, but having less than 1% of our world population die has little effect on human's over population of earth.  As we strive to keep everyone alive for as long as possible, fighting to stave off anything that could cause death, we are doing more damage to the planet than it can recover from.  We may win the battle but we will lose the war.

If you do get the vaccine, a few things to remember are, you can still be a carrier, you can still get symptoms which may (or may not) be less severe.  Everyone may not be able to build a sufficient immune response and therefore you could still transfer the virus to them even if they had received the vaccine.  The elderly and transplant patients (anyone on immunosuppressant therapy) are still susceptible.

Yes sir, very aware.  I am still doing my stay away from people.  I figured the j and j was my best option.  Strongly suggested that I be vaccinated before my surgery in May.  Biggest factor for me in deciding to get it was on the likelihood it would lessen potential damage caused by covid.

Primary care doc, cardiologist, wife, and a cardiology pa all strongly encouraged me getting a vaccine. They are far more educated on this stuff than I am.

While I am not a fan of the vaccines, it is looking like there is going to be a surgical repair needed on my lumbar spine and the need to be vaccinated prior to that has been brought to my attention.  I question the need as required for admission for elective surgery based on protecting others as one could still be a carrier.  As walking and standing is becoming a more pressing issue, I may not have a choice.  Personally, getting the virus is not a worry of mine at this stage of my life.

For those of you vaccinated I have a question:  How you been contacted concerning a third dose?  The current thinking is that a third dose is/may be needed.  On top of that is the probability of the need for a yearly booster to maintain immunity, especially as the virus continues to mutate.  Over time those antibodies break down and can last for several months or possibly for years.  Polio and Measles vaccines produced long term immunity measured in years, but flu vaccines seem to only last for months.

I had the single dose j and j and Catrina had the moderna.  Neither of us have been contacted at this point about another dose.  I like the idea the j and j was essentially an already used vaccine that was just modified. At least that was my understanding of it.

Vanderbilt does not require being vaccinated, but strongly encourages the vaccine before admission for surgery.  Without you have to pay for a covid test which also slows the process getting checked in.  Figure I will have enough on my mind the morning I check in, one less thing to worry with.

I had to go in to my cardiologist this morning for bp getting out of control again.  They asked if I had the vaccine, I said yes, and she told me I could take off my facemask after checking my temp.  Nice to be able to breath free while at the cardiologist office.

Kept carvedilol the same.  Had to change from lisinopril to edarbi and upped the dose x2.  Cardiologist said this time next month, post surgery, I should not have to take those pills anymore.  Sure I will continue the rosuvastatin though.

Let's say all of Mr. Jones' friends, family and neighbors get the vaccine but Mr. Jones does not.

If the vaccine actually works, how can he be putting them at risk?

EXACTLY!! Besides, getting "The Shot" does NOT prevent you from getting Covid..it may reduce the severity of the symtoms, if it dont give you blood clots or kill you as a side effect. People that have gotten the shot have still come down with covid AFTER receiving it. And that was the first strain of the virus. there are now 12 other variances out there, which that shot dont fully cover if at all.  Covid has a very low result in death. I'll take my chances. I have no health issues, or underlying problems. I dont even take any medications at 63!...Good Lord gave us inmune systems for a reason, I aint screwin mine up with an unknown drug!

I got the Moderna shot back on may 19. I had no side effects other than arm a bit sore the next day. I actually didn’t even feel the needle. I put my courage in the doctors and scientists not the Facebook moms and keyboard warriors lol who think that covid is all fake and the government is controlling it all. I had one guy tell me that when they test you and when you get the needle they are putting nano chips in your brain and your arm lol.

Just an FYI.

I did not get the shot because I did not think it necessary.                                       It is as simple as that.                                 It was not because of Trump or my politics. Not because of my believing in any conspiricy theories. I simply do not believe the virus was as deadly as it was reported.                                             I think the entire  thing was terribly overblown - primarily by TV news media.                                                Modern TV news is not in business to accurately inform the public, or be fair. They are in it for their shareholders - for their bottom line. And nothing sells like tragedy,  fear and as was talked about in the boxing thread, violence. The news media made a bundle off this Covid mess and the people who watch a lot of TV news bought into it all.
