confidence in your MD, DO, PA, NP, etc

A recommended new post concerning how confident you are in your healthcare providers.  The title could have been a lot longer as there are so many different types of healthcare providers but three other important ones are pharmacists, physical therapists, and chiropractors.  Many of these providers are short staffed, overworked individuals who are mentally burned out.  No one is perfect, we all make mistakes, but lack of attention to detail can be detrimental to one's health.  Do not put blind trust in your provider.  A missed or incorrect diagnosis can kill you, as can improper treatment or misfilled prescriptions.  My recommendation is that a patient needs to be personally involved in all aspects of their healthcare and needs to take ownership of it.  Ask questions and do some research using creditable sources.  I could give so many examples of errors that I could make this post several pages long.  Scary it is.

So, how confident are you in your healthcare provider?

I didn't expect much activity on this post, but I hope it at least makes everyone who read it consider their options for a healthcare provider.  Remember, they work for you to provide a valuable service.  If your provider is determined by whether or not they are "in network" by your insurance I would recommend providing feedback to your insurance carrier on the quality of service you receive.  It may well be worth it to pay more for better healthcare.

Good advice.  Had not considered giving feedback to the insurance on providers.
