Highline Hunter
A question for those that lease land with an elk population on it. I am entry the 2nd year of a large lease here in Montana, over 40,000 acres, of which about half is great elk country. It is a working cattle ranch of course, there are pivots and gravity fed irrigation on the ranch , with a mix of alfalfa and other mixed grass fields. I am curious, what have you did to benefit the elk population on your leases? What would you recommend as far as increasing quality of the herd. We already have a management plan to harvest cow elk and management bulls. The ranch is known for outstanding genetics, with bulls over 400 inches taken in the last 5 years, and pretty common to be hunting bulls between 300-360.
