Re: Muscle Car...

Since we are dreaming, my vote is for Zora Duntov's creation, the L-88 Corvette. I like the 1968 version that James Garner used to race. The aluminum 427 cid motor that was modestly rated at 425 hp.

If thats not an option I guess I could settle for a 69 ZL-1 Camaro.

Re: Muscle Car...

AMEN Snapper. 69 Yenko Camaro. Does it get any better than that? I would say the closest competition would come from a ZL1 Chevelle.

The Cuda's are sweet too, same with the Shelby's, Firebirds, Superbirds, Chargers, GTO's, Vettes, heck, any muscle car is an amazing piece of worl. But, the 69 Yenko Camaro and the COPO Camaro's come out on top. grin.gifgrin.gifgrin.gif

Re: Muscle Car...

I would love to have my old 68 Comaro SS 396 back. I had the engine bored, balanced and blue printed, with a full racing cam. Come to think of it, the cost was excessive but it sure was fun to drive around. Thought I was impressing the girls, but they just thought I was crazy. Those were the days.........

Re: Muscle Car...

I used to have a 1968 Dogde Charger 440 R/T. What a great car! I had to sell it to pay for college frown.gif I would LOVE to replace it. Here is the rest of my short list:

1970 426 Hemi Cuda

1970 Boss 429 Mustang

1966 427 Shelby Cobra roadster

Nice dreams anyway!

The old corvette, I think 69, the one with the split window coupe!! Cherry red with a 427, Can we dream LOL!!
Not positive (don't feel like looking it up right now) but I believe the split window was a '63. Pretty positive its older than a '69.

Re: Muscle Car...

.......original split-windows were 1963's and all small blocks.......yep. wink.gif

#1 on my muscle car wish list would be a 1963 Impala Z-11 (factory racecar....aluminum hood, fenders, bumpers, battery in trunk, no heater or radio and a 409 bored to 427 shocked.gif )

......or a 1969 ZL-1 'vette

......or an LS-6 Chevelle

......or a COPO Camaaro

......or a 1965 Z-16 Chevelle

......or a '70 455 Judge

......or just my old 1967 Impala 396 back...... frown.giffrown.giffrown.gif

Re: Muscle Car...

O yes, a Nissan GTR-S V-Spec Skyline. Actually, factory, they have about the same exact performance as a standard C5 Vette. The price tag is the difference considering that you could get two C5 Vettes for the price of one of these skylines, and still have some money left over.

They are nice cars though.

Re: Muscle Car...

The "ricers" are temporary hot rods. The sewing machine motors they heavily modify to get teh high horsepower do not last as they need extremely high RPM to get there. High RPMs kill motors. If you dyno a tricked out ricer and do it again after 50K miles, there is a huge delta in the readings. Now compare the same thing with a big V8 and its like the battery bunny, it keeps going and going and going. Theres no replacement for displacement. They want $90K for a ricer?! Check out Lingenfelter Performance Engineering . They are doing some outrageous stuff on new American cars.
