Good enough

Sunday morning about 30 minutes after light had this 8 show up at a scrapeline about 180 yards straight out in front of me.  He came straight at me and got behind some tall junk I hadn't mowed.  For what seemed like minutes all I could see was antlers moving above the grass. At about 150 yards, he turned to the left and started walking into a lane I had mowed. Angling to me, I squeezed the trigger on the custom rifle I built, and it was all over.  Bang flop.  My handloaded eldx went just forward in his left shoulder and exited just behind his right shoulder.

Right at 17 inches inside, better than anything I saw or got pics of last year and had no pics of him yet this year.  Figure he is a 3.5 year old.  After the year I have had, didn't hesitate.  DSC08565.thumb.JPG.ae6f9d83a2acff617e97b9eabaa4f5d7.JPGDSC08571.thumb.JPG.8b9b1cebb604b5b553d0c5b063774c0b.JPG

That's a beauty William! Congratulations!

Thank you Frank. I considered a shoulder mount, but I am just going to do a euro.

With no more than I am seeing now, I am glad I took him.  Hoping for a late season deer to show up, but no luck yet.  I wasn't able to get any annual food plots in this year, so only draw is our clover, which is in sad shape, and the deer moving through.
