carbonhunter
I just spent two days in some prime turkey woods....saw 9 gobblers, four of them in full strut...but didnt hear a single gobble. Its still pretty cold around here...so I'm guessing the birds just arnt into it yet.
Leo
Re: tell me what to do about this... Never scratch a traditionally good area off your list unless something drastic has happened to the hunting area. Examples of this would be clearcutting, different crops nearby or Flooding of the strut zone. In my experience flooding of the roosting area usually makes it better. Turkeys seem to enjoy hearing their own poop hit the water. You must identify the roost zone, the feeding zone and the strut zone. If you only know two of the three areas your odds are still way better than if you just know one.
Guest DaHunter
Re: tell me what to do about this... It could be its so cold. Here in central new york i went out sunday morning....bout 20-25 degrees and i saw bout 15 struters in one field but in 10 mins only heard a couple gobbles. Not really into it here yet course there is a few inches of snow on the ground too.
