Born4it
Ok guys...I've fished before, owned a few poles, a few lures and stuff. I've gone with my dad a few times, but we've never been big fishermen. Now I've got a few friends who fish quite a bit and I'm looking to get set up with a rod and reel. I'm thinking about getting a set up for panfish and a set up for bass/catfish and other larger fish. I'd like to get some good stuff without denting the wallet too badly. (hopefully get the rods and reels for around $75 total if possible). Let me know what I should look in to! Thanks a lot! Ryan
Gator
Re: New, but not really... Ryan, I recommend AMBASSADUER Tournament Grade rod and Reels. I have one, and that is the smoothest casting Ambassadeur reel I have ever owned. It will do good for bass and catfish. I'd get the rod in a 6-7 footer, med-med heavy action. The action really depends on the weight of line/lure that you plan on using. As far as panfish, a Zebco 33 will do good, it is really up toy you there. I have a MITCHELL AVOCET 7' combo, with 8lb mono, that thin is so smooth it is unreal. WALMART carries these for right around $30. The Ambassaduer will run you around $70. Orion_70
Re: New, but not really... I'm with Gator on the Ambassadeur reels they're awesome. I'd get a 7ft rod for the bass and cats. You might want to look into a good spinning reel also, you could get a med/light action rod for the panfish and could even use that for a spare bass rod/reel. Use the baitcaster for worms, jigs, cranks, spinners, topwaters, etc and the spincast for your lighter finesse lures.. But like gator said, can't go wrong with a zebco 33 for panfish either
