TreeStandBowHunter
Re: Jury Duty Dude, listen to me man. Tell the judge that you think the guy is guilty already and that he must die a horrible death in the electric chair....they won't ever call you again...seriously
dogdoc
Re: Jury Duty hutchies---I feel your pain! I got summoned for jury duty here in OKC during deer season 2003. All I could think about was going deer hunting. Hopefully you will get finished quick. good luck todd
fisherguy
Re: Jury Duty That is what i always figured i would do. Walk in and just say something aobut the SOB being guilty and you are home free. Of course as much as it pains me to say it if i did not have something important to be doing i would serve if selected.

hutchies
Re: Jury Duty Nice try but they put out a warrant for your arrest if you don't show up. Cop comes to your house or work that day and gives you some new bracelets then you will be waiting on the jury.
popgun
Re: Jury Duty I was called for jury duty once. I was anxious to do my civil duty because I was still working for the Govt. at the time and would get paid even while serving on jury duty. I finally was called in for jury selection for a meth manufacturing case. They brought all the confiscated meth equipment, some guns, money, and other evidence into the courtroom and set it up in front. Then they brought in the defendant. The prosecutor asked me if I perceived a cloud of guilt over the defendant before the jury was even selected. I answered that I didn’t think the police, sheriff’s office, and the prosecutors would waste the time of the court system unless they had some pretty good evidence. The prosecutor said, “We will accept Mr. Popgun as a juror”. The defense council said, “Thank you Mr. Popgun, but we decline you as a juror”. I was never called again. I read in the paper a week later that the verdict was guilty. …..popgun

Guest CBU93
Re: Jury Duty Go hunting in the mornings before going to jury duty, show up in camo, and you'll never make it to a jury. Who wants to be judged by 12 people that aren't bright enough to get out of jury duty?
archerjg
Re: Jury Duty I have been called once, but I was never selected. Dad got called about a month ago to jury duty and they were about to select him when he spoke up and declined to be on the jury and they sent him home. He pretty much told them to fry the guy in the case. He will be eligible in 3 years for jury duty again and I will be eligible next year. GWSmith
Re: Jury Duty [ QUOTE ] Dude, listen to me man. Tell the judge that you think the guy is guilty already and that he must die a horrible death in the electric chair....they won't ever call you again...seriously [/ QUOTE ] ROFLMBO....that has happened before while i lived in Florida. I was called and went there to the courthouse....sitting and waiting the entire morning and listening to people go in and answer questions. A couple people must have been talking toegther about how to get out of it quicker so they could get home. Both of them when called told the Judge that they should: "Fry the Sucker on Old Sparky"(the name for Florida's old electric chair)...they left the courtroom shortly thereafter
stevebeilgard
Re: Jury Duty you are a part of the american system. be proud, and do your duty. yes, you'll miss day one of the turkey season, but you'll be protecting our way of life. and, the best system in the world. a small sacrifice in my small thinking mind
Tominator
Re: Jury Duty Well, I guess you don't want to hear that it's your civic duty and yadda yadda yadda, but it is your civic duty you know. I've only been called once. It was in the spring also. I wrote a letter to the judge explaining that I was a teacher, and that substitutes were hard to come by in the spring. He allowed me to shift my duty to the summer, and when my time rolled around, turns out they didn't have any cases on the docket, so I got out of it. You might want to write a letter to your judge and see if he/she will adjust your duty time. Worth a try at least.

TreeStandBowHunter
Re: Jury Duty You all think I am joking about telling the judge that. I am serious. I mean I know it is your civil right to stand jury duty and all but we are talking about turkey season here. Not someones stupid birthday party or a stupid wedding where the bride and groom will only get divorced a year later anyway, WE ARE TALKING ABOUT TURKEY SEASON. Dude, it is your duty to tell the judge that you think the guy should fry or be hung by his pp.
hutchies
Re: Jury Duty Yeah they pay a wonderful $20 a day + mileage if you live out of town. So after I eat lunch and put gas in my truck I am left with about $5. Plus I just bought a house and if I have to sit on a jury for a week then there goes my $600 paycheck a week. Sure won't help me finish the remodel I am working on before we move in. Religiously I don't know if I want to have to sentence anyone to death I realize that some people more than deserve it but I would not want that responsibility on my hands. Turkeygirl
Re: Jury Duty My sister had a close call with jury duty, lol. In the mail the other day she got an envelope from the Commissioner of Jurors but it ended up being some survey..whew!
hutchies
Re: Jury Duty It was probably a survey for being a juror. Mine has a 1 1/2 page survey with it that I have to fill out my life history and turn it in the morning of the trial.
