ruttinbuc
What is a good spinfishing setup for steel head fishing? I have some heavier fishing tackle, but what is the right stuff to have for steelhead and salmon? Its been a long time since I've been to Lake Ontario tributaries to fish. Thx in advance! carbonhunter
Re: Steelhead gear? Rod: 9.5-12 feet long med-light to light action.(flexible tip to protect light lines, stout butt to stop and turn hard running fish.) Reel: med sized reel with about 250 yards of line and a GOOD drag. Line: a 15 pound main line, with tippet sections of 12#,10#,8#,6#. ruttinbuc
Re: Steelhead gear? Thanks, carbonhunter! I knew you would respond. I was curious to what reels you may recommend. I have a 10' St. Croix noodle rod which will suffice I guess. Thanks.

[/ QUOTE ] To be honest I hardly ever use a spinning rod anymore.........any reel that you have experiance with and feel good useing will work...i use Shimano symitry(sp?) on my client rods. ruttinbuc
Re: Steelhead gear? I guess the method of choice today is float fishing with the long fly rod with the centerpin reel. Quite pricey from what I see unless Iam looking in the wrong places. Thanks again
