johnf
I put a scope on my T/C Scout ML for the first time and need to sight it in. I usually just shoot 2 or 3 rounds through the thing a year and clean it at the end of the season, but I know I'm going to have to put a lot more than that through it to sight in my scope. How many shots do you useually shoot befor you clean it? Is there a way to clean it without tearing it down and doing the whole thing while sighting in? Someone told me to just run a bronze brush down it a few times then snap a cap on it to blow out the residue. Is this enough for sighting it in? Do you clean it after sighting again, and will that change the POI?
JimT
Re: quick clean for sighting in. I would shoot it 6-7 times without breaking it down. I just swab the barrell clean and clean the nipple with a pick in between shots. When it is sighted in and ready to go hunting I clean it thoroughly every couple shots. A fouled barrell will shoot a little different than a clean one for sure.
johnf
Re: quick clean for sighting in. How much is a little bit? I would not shoot my ML more than 100 yards. I've never even shot a deer at more than 60 even with my 243 or 25-06. I just don't like taking chances when I don't have to.
tedicast
Re: quick clean for sighting in. I have shot 25 to 30 shots with my Encore in a session, just swabbing with 1 windex patch, and 2 dry patches between shots. I swab every round to keep the barrel consistently fouled. Works for me. lil hunter
Re: quick clean for sighting in. After every shot, i spray a patch with windex, put it down my barrel, flip it over put it back down. Then grab a clean patch, and dry my barrel with that. Reload, and shoot. Other than that I do no cleaning until I clean it all good, after shooting.
AJ
Re: quick clean for sighting in. I swab between every shot. When I am done shooting for the day, it gets disassembled and cleaned, unless I am hunting the next day.
too_pointer
Re: quick clean for sighting in. I use 777 pellets in my Encore. I use a windex patch every 2 loads, then follow up with a dry one. It works in "my" gun just fine. I also do a thoruogh clean job when I get it back home. too_pointer
