TreeStandBowHunter
As much as I don't want too, I do sorta agree A LITTLE BIT....I wouldn't go as far as saying he shouldn't be concerned about other topics right now but I do think that we need to tighten up on border control QUICK. johnf
Re: An interesting subject! I think the only way we could effectively contol the border is with military actively "culling" the borders. I think this would be a bigger crime then the Mexicans coming over. I think a better solution would be to let them in if they already have a job, tax the snot out of them and allow NO refunds for non-citizens. Give them a tax rate of around 40% and let them pay for Social Security. If they did this, they would have to inforce the law a lot better and have stiff penelties including prison for people who are not paying taxes on them. Guest IADEERDUDE
Re: An interesting subject! the president should be pushing social sercuity because who is going too take a hard look at it if bush doesnt? and i too agree our border needs to be protected yes the illegal immagrants are of a high number, but it should not be our main focus or ss for that matter our main focus should still remain with terrorists and the war overseas.... and as far as "other issues" he is only one man taking care of a whole country repulican or dem cut the guy some slack.. slugshooter
Re: An interesting subject! I too have expressed my concerns about our Mexican borders on here before. There are whole zones in Arizona with unmanned watchtowers, where is the homeland security money. It is not just Mexicans crossing the border, anyone who can get to Mexico can sneak across the border and it is documented that people from terrorist countries have crossed over. Dirty bombs aren't that big, a lot of damage can be done with something smuggled in in a briefcase. Also, why I sympathize with the Mexicans desire to try and make a better life in our country, they need to come in legally, I understand it is probably harder to get a green card nowadays but I am sure it is still possible, of course, I don't know how difficult it is to get one or the process. I may be a democrat, but I in no way believe that an illegal immigrant should be able to draw Social Security, get a free education, a drivers license or anything in this country, the only thing they should be entitled to is a free trip home. Of course, a lot of them apparently are using stolen SS #'s to obtain home loans and such and the victims don't find out until they get a bill for an unpaid loan or whatever. Good reason to check your credit report periodically.
wtnhunt
Re: An interesting subject! Think he has a lot to focus on and is doing the best he can with what he has. It is easy for someone to criticize saying you would do this or that differently, but having never sat in his seat, how do you really know what you would do differently. Also where is this concept of SS getting the majority of his focus coming from?
Norm Sauceman
Re: An interesting subject! I am hoping he is spending EQUAL time on both issues. I am sure he has folks working on both issues right now. I think it would be a great job for the National Guard.. WHOA.. There's a snap!! The NATIONAL GUARD guarding our NATIONAL BORDERS!!!!! HOW RUDE!!!

wtnhunt
Re: An interesting subject! Presidents day and how much time he spends on each issue and issues that we may know nothing about? Just because he speaks about one thing in public does that mean that is all he is focussing on?
wtnhunt
Re: An interesting subject! [ QUOTE ] if we dont take care of our boader right know terriost can come into the country, and who knows what they are going to do! [/ QUOTE ] And you are telling me you think they are not already here? I am sure the president has many meetings we never heare about, and in those what are the chances border control is in fact discussed. Primary focus in my opinion at this point in time should be the war and concentrating on getting those people to the point we can get out troops out of there. Then is homeland security, which is pretty broad and should be inclusive of border control.
wtnhunt
Re: An interesting subject! My reply answered that question if you actually even read it. Where is it written that our borders get no attention? As I said before that is and should be the responsibilty of homeland security.
