sureshot
Re: Calling first off try to get soem distance from the vehicle, park in a low spot, walk to your stand in low spots not skylining yourself, watch the wind,[if you thinka area holds a coyote call it so they HAVE to comethrough a openign upwind of you before they can get downwind!]ALways remember the wind they will try to circle most of the time, Good camo and being still is very important, they can pick out wihtin a few feet from 1/2 mile were the sound is coming from so be very still, keep in a shadowed area, sitting right on a hilltop is like showing the coyote were you are!call for a bit with a distress and wait, in a few minutes try again! [howlers are awsoem also but distress work to] [i now combine the two]have a few different calls, they become very warry to certain calls if used lots in the area! biggest mistake most starters do [including myself] is calling areas were no coyotes are, being noisy walking in a nd scaring every coyote in the area off, and lastly not sittign in the right location, think like a coyote, if you see a river bottom off 1/2 mile away and suspect a coyote there or good area think of the wind, keep it in your face, make sure he will have a hard tiem to get downwind, for example a big bank behind you or a river,[not always available]look at the lay of the land and try to figure a ditvch he will take , the more you know and understand the coyote the better you will do! Most important the more you hunt the better you will get, don't give up, I tried for a long tiem [prob 3 years] calling years a go with no luck, once I got my first one Istarted to undersatnmd what i was doing wrong and most is above, alwyas think wind and be carefullg gettign in , sit in a good location and nearly any prey sound will be ok if they ahve no idea you are there! Good luck and hope this helped a bit!!
Reloader
Re: Calling [ QUOTE ] We call 'em at night --- park the truck, sit a while, call for several minutes with a rabbit squealer, then shine the fields .... works pretty well. [/ QUOTE ] This is a great method, but check to see if it is legal in your area first. Some areas don't allow the lights or night shooting unless you have a depredation permit. 6sixpoint_nobrows
Re: Calling theyv got it somed up, but most mistake young coyote hunters make is they pause, between calling for about 10 to 15 minutes, coyote calling like a distress call is constant, dont go out there and start blowing your lungs out, but as if something were in distress, or injured, good luck!!
