Re: best scope

I have one of the 10-40x50 Tasco scopes and its ok at best. Its all but unusable at top magnification becasuse the optics are not very clear. Also remember in the summer when its hot and the mirage is boiling you can't use much above 15x anyhow.

I have quite a few tasco World Class 6-24x40 scopes on varmint rifles. I also have a few of the Simmons 44 Mag 6.5-20x44 scopes. They work great. You can get a Simmons 6.5-20x50 Whitetail Classic Rifle Scope for $100.

I avoid tasco like the plague.

This isn't the first post I've read with you hammering Tasco products...do you have a personal experience with Tasco products, if so, please add that information. Lets try not to bash a product that we don't have/use/used at some point.

I have a Tasco 6-24 on a varmint gun. It has performed well with no probs. Like AJ said, you will lose some clairty with the higher magnifcations...but for the money, I can't complain.

AJ so u would stay away from the 10-40x50? what about bsa? i like the tactical look of the tasco target scopes, but shoudl i go with a lesser magnification?

1. Yes, its big and heavy. The optics are so so, and the magnification range is too high for the quality of the optics.

2. I have not been too impressed with BSA optics.

3. Yes, I would not go over 24x as top magnification. The 6-20x is a great (ideal IMO) range for a varmint gun. It allows better view of the target, more accurate reticle placement, and you can turn it down when the mirage gets too bad.
