WestKyTeacher
Just curious, in the photography section people are showing pictures of bucks still with antlers and some with new growth taking place. My question, how soon after they shed their antlers do they begin growing new sets? Thanks.
JimT
Re: Antlers and New Growth I would think it varies from region to region. Nutrition plays a factor also. The bucks here lost their antlers months ago. I saw a few pretty good bucks today that were completly bald.

wtnhunt
Re: Antlers and New Growth Great pic sequence. Think it depends some on the age of the buck, and other factors such as nutrition and stress. Last years button bucks around here have started growing already this year. western NY bowhunter
Re: Antlers and New Growth Texan, Awesome photo sequence. I would have never believed that the antler growth could be so great from May 24 to June 6. That's unbelievable growth for a week and a half. I don't think that I've ever seen a mature buck so developed that early in June here in NY.

Squirrelhunter91
Re: Antlers and New Growth [ QUOTE ] sometimes the deer wont shed their antlers until they are completely done breeding.... [/ QUOTE ] Not true. Photoperiodism or the amount of light during a day affects the deers breeding activity and antlers falling off. Do a search if you don't believe me.
