Chrud
I like about 12' to 15'. I feel comfortable at that height (which is MOST important). Plus, I can usually get good cover and camo up there too. But with Realtree and Advantage camo, you shouldn't have to worry.
kooter
Re: tree stand height ? all mine are set up between 12' and 15'. I don't want to be any higher in the tree!
JimT
Re: tree stand height ? I hunt up to twenty feet, but it is not for concealmeant. It is more for scent control. The higher you are the longer it takes your scent to hit the ground, depending on the wind currents.

Mach1
Re: tree stand height ? We've got a few 15-ft ladder stands and some hang-ons with 16 ft climbing sticks. I've went up to 20 ft with my climber. We also have some homemade wooden ladder stands and they are anywhere from 8-12 ft tall. We've had deer within 5 yds from all stands while we've been in them. Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Re: tree stand height ? my ladder stand i have at 12ft, it can go 16 but i feel more comfortable in that at 12 (i am afraid of heights ) my climbing stand i don't really have a limit, i feel alot more safe in that for some reason and go up as high as 20 feet depending on how high the good cover is
Sam16
Re: tree stand height ? I usually always hunt out of 12 or 15 foot ladder stands and they are good if you are in a tree with limbs and such to break up your outline. I kept getting busted in one of my stands cuz i sorta stuck out, every time i'd draw another deer would spot me or something. Never did get a shot out of that stand. I dont like being any higher, i hunted out of a 30 foot portable stand and was terrified the whole time and it sorta ruined the hunt. Not for me. tedicast
Re: tree stand height ? [ QUOTE ] I go as high as the situation warrants. Early season I stay under 16 feet since there is so much foliage. Later in the season I go as high as I can. [/ QUOTE ] I agree... Cover is what i worry about most. I'm pretty fanatical about scent control, so thats not my biggest concern. All my hang-on stands are between 18 and 22. I have a ladder that is 15. I will go as high as I need in my climber to get decent cover. My comfort zone is around 20 feet.
Orion_70
Re: tree stand height ? I hunt where I can get the best cover and the best shot, whether it's from the ground or in the tree.. Optimal for me is around 16-25 ft, but it just depends on the area I'm hunting and the tree I'm in.
tedicast
Re: tree stand height ? [ QUOTE ] I like the height just remember to practice from what ever height you hunt from shot angles change a bunch when you get up that high [/ QUOTE ] Thats one of the reasons I limit myself to around 20 feet. any higher than that and any shot within 10 or 15 yards of the base of your tree is going to be at an extremely steep angle.
