Bolt Action? let me know what you think [/ QUOTE ] Though I own at least one of each of those you mentioned, my answer to you question is none of the above. i prefer my single shot TC Encore, to any of my other guns. Guest bronco_mudder
Re: pump, lever, bolt I would prefer a bolt over any other rifle for accuracy. But a nice falling, or rolling block rifle would be next, they are fun to shoot. Lever rifles don't hold alot of interest to me, except for the Win. 1895, of the Savage 99. As for pump or semi auto's, I have a bad attitude about them. I would never own one in anything but a rimfire. I think in centerfire they are about good for a jack handle and thats about it. Lots of guys like them, and thats good, this is just my oppinion, and it only should matter to me.
JimT
Re: pump, lever, bolt I prefer pumps, even though I do not own one yet. My buddys 7600 .308 shoots as good or better than most any factory bolt I have seen. They are very accurate.

You may not like them or use them, but lots of other people do. . I personally own a Rem 7600 pump in .270. I like the gun. It is a surpisingly good shooter, and the last thing it would be used for is a jack handle! It's fine to state your opinion on something, but comments like that are what cause trouble on this forum. What wrong for you, might be perfect for someone else. No need to bash a certain type of gun, because you don't like it.
AJ
Re: pump, lever, bolt I have all but the lever gun as I don't care for them. Do I prefer one over another, not really. They are all good guns. I can show good and not so good versions of any style.
iron buck
Re: pump, lever, bolt I own & use all three actions. I have a Rem 7600 in 35 Whelen that has become my favorite. I'd put it up against any bolt gun any day. And it has never let me down in the field. I have several Savage 99s & MArlin 336s. They are all fun to hunt with. I own many many bolt action rifles. Remington 700s, M70s, Ruger 77MIIs, Wbys & a Mauser. They are all very accurate rifles & fun to shoot. But if I were forced to go down to just one rifle to hunt with...........it would be my 7600 pump action Whelen. It would handle anything in North America & has proven itself over & over. Norm Sauceman
Re: pump, lever, bolt I am a semi-auto man. Always have been, always will be. It is just my preference though. I have killed deer with one shot at over 500 yards with my trusty old BAR 300 WIn Mag.. One of my all-time favorite guns (and the gun I killed my first deer with) is the trusty Marlin 30-30 336. The targets wil be bears running through heavy cover My 7600 is a 1.5 MOA rifle. Not a target shooter, but it just seems to be a magic waund for me on game. It points tru & fast for me & with the big round nose bullets, deer & bear just drop where they are hit. No question about who shot them . Which in PA I am sure you know can be a problem if a deer takes 100 yards to die LOL

I can say in all my years of hunting, never lost a hit deer, or had a malfuntion. Am I lucky ? maybe. too_pointer

But buy saying the only use for a pump or a semi is as a jack handle, you are putting down the guns that a lot of people prefer. It would have been enought to just say you don't like them. I prefer BOLTS over any other action, but I currently own and have taken many deer with a Model 7600 Pump in .30-.06 so to say that they are only good for a jack handle to me is a great insult to those of us that use different actions than what you would and are using....... I have and do own many different rifles and shotguns with different types of actions and I like them all,,,,and I think the orginal question to your post was what we as individuals prefered not what you yourself liked..IMO... And I thought BRAND BASHING was Taboo,,,the big NO,,NO.....
