JimT
Re: pump, lever, bolt It was clean. My $115.00 SKS had thousands of rounds down it. Never jammed. My $700.00 Browning only had a couple hundred when it did. Go figure. I was so mad at that gun I threw it on the ground and almost left it in the woods....lol. Traded it for a 700 Remington. Still have that gun. I know lots of guys that have had great luck with semis though and would not use anything else. Thats cool. My buddy Paul has shot lots of deer with his 7400 30-06, and it has never missed a beat. I just cannot get myself to buy another one. Maybe someday, but not any time soon. snapper
Re: pump, lever, bolt [ QUOTE ] What's the matter snap?.............Getting scared? I'd say this became an accuracy thing when you talked about a penny shoot . [/ QUOTE ] LOL...No it became an accuracy thing when you said you'd put your pump up against any bolt. We are talking about just firing them guns...so you must be refering to accuracy? Since we can't "legally" go out now and go shoot a bear to see how well a gun swings in the brush...I suggested the penny shoot. I like the idea of factory gun, factory ammo...bring what ya like. My main reason for not liking to use a pump center fire for hunting purposes...I like (when posible) to use a rest ie...tree limb, fence post etc...I will not rest the barrel on a limb to shoot, so it has to be the forstock which makes it very hard to cycle if a second shot is needed. BTW, if your using a bolt gun...usally hit where your aiming and don't need a follow up shot! That last sentence was a joke for anyone that didn't know! snapper
Re: pump, lever, bolt [ QUOTE ] I wanna play!! I wanna play!! [/ QUOTE ] Do you own any guns that aren't "turkey" guns? Heck, I don't care what anyone brings...just sounds like a good time to get together and do some shooting. I'll bring my Win. 94 lever if you like! Hey Don, do you know of any "open to the public" rifle ranges handy? I can only think of one...near Virgina farms. I could get us into Indiana Bow and Gun club...but my brother would be responsible for all "non" members...don't think he'd like that. snapper
Re: pump, lever, bolt [ QUOTE ] Yeah. At the Game Commission building on Metz Road (Old 422) between Penn Run and Indiana. [/ QUOTE ] Geezzzzzzzz, I forgot all about that one....what is it, like 2 miles from me? I never been to it, and really ain't positive where its at...got a good idea. If we want to set a date...we could meet at my house for lunch and chit-chat...then head to the range for some shooting? Just and idea, or we could meet in Indiana for lunch...doesn't matter to me, just sounds like it would be fun...Everybody welcomed.
Reloader
Re: pump, lever, bolt I have to agree with snapper about slide actions for deer guns...a little tough to cycle if you use a rest. So for deer I prefer a Bolt For "clasic" looks I prefer a lever 30-30 For fun at the range when ammo is plentiful I can't beat a semi. For shotguns I do prefer a slide...whoever heard of suing a rest with bird shot...
