Hunting too you?

Hunting to me is everything. Like you said, I hunt to get out, not just for the kill. Nothing beats being in the bear/deer woods for me. I have seen more wildlife in my 12 years of hunting than most animal rights freaks see in their lifetime. I bet I care about the animals I hunt more than most a/r freaks also. Hunting is the best.

Welcome to the Realtree Forums DRB cool.gif

my view on hunting is very similar to yours. i go hunting to get out of the house, and enjoy nature. it doesnt matter if i get game or not. to me, getting out in the woods is what its all about, and getting game is a bonus. i am only 18, so i dont have any kids of my own yet, but i have lots of cousins, and i take them out as often as i can. i love seeing them with a smile on their face when they are enjoying the outdoors. and i cant wait until i have children of my own and i can take them out in the woods and teach them all about hunting, and respecting and enjoying nature. smile.gif

Hunting to me is everything

I just like being able to go out in the woods breathe fresh air and haveing the adrenalin rush you get when you see a deer and enjoying what you love to do. I spend about 8 hours in the woods each week pretty much. I would rather be in the woods than being inside.

Welcome...great insight and point of view...

As we gain knowledge and get older (hope I age with grace) we are teacher's for tomorrow's future. We don't teach appreciation for hunting and conservation and the land nothing will be left for our kid's kid's kid's kid to enjoy..... I guarantee you take a child hunting or in the outdoor's they will learn a whole new respect for the finer things in life.

I'll be taking my little cousin out scouting pretty soon for turkeys. He is still too young for a gun. But he loves nature and what God has created for us all. When I get married and I have a family with daughters and sons, I'll try to get them out in the outdoors. Can't wait to pass down my tradition of hunting.

Hunting is the better parts about being here on this earth.

Its history and tradition you can feel in the air and smell in the wind. Its about being a part of the long chain that is Life.

Last but not least.....its the anticipation of it happening all over again in the future that wells up inside and stokes the fire in a hunters heart.

P.S. Or it could just be the gear...I love the gear grin.gif

Re: Hunting too you?

Hunting to me is getting up early and staying out all day. Being hungry, cold, and frustrated at times. It's a struggle between sitting "5 more minutes" and going home for some coffee and food. It's fighting nicotine fits and trying to stay awake.

It's hunting hard all season to the point of exhaustion and borderline insanity without having a deer come into range.

It's cursing the squirrels that sound like an approaching buck, and becoming angry with blue jays "yelling" at everything they hear.

Though I've mentioned some of the "less glamorous" aspects of hunting, I still go. I still love it...it is an opportunity to talk to God and to admire His creation.

It's also an opportunity to thank Him, not just for a successful harvest, but for the ability to be out there--successful or not--and know that I will not go hungry because I have been blessed. When a hunt is successful, it's another opportunity to thank Him for making a good shot, and mercifully killing my game.

The camaraderie, the challenge, the adrenaline rush are there for me as well. However, feeling closer to Him for that time is the most rewarding.

It's relaxation, a way to get away where your worries are carried off by the soft breeze hitting your left check as you watch that trail. It's respect for nature, respect for animals and life. It's remembering where we came from, our history and traditions and trying to honor those the best we can. It's about trying to pass those skills on to a next generation so they may enjoy the countless hours afield and pass it on....

Hunting to me is a passion, way of life for me.Just sitting out in the woods and nothing happening but the stillness of the wilderness, then all of the sudden there is noise and many different types of animals could present themselves at anytime. The comrauderie of hunting with others, learning and teaching are great aspects of hunting.I can't wait to have a little one to teach skills I have aquired over the years from my dad. Then it will mean even more to me.
