Hoyt03
Just wondering what everyones opinions are on the older model 1100 12 guage. What do most people use this gun for. It doesnt have the capability of changing chokes, so I doubt this wouldnt be the best gun to use for turkeys. I heard its a decent wingshooter gun, but its fairly heavy. Whats everyones opinions? thanks
AJ
Re: Remington Model 1100 Automatic Its a great wingshooting gun. It has won more clay target competitions than any other shotgun. they have been around since 1963. They are not designed to handle magnums. If you want to shoot magnums, get a magnum gun. They were different on the 1100. Shooting magnum cartridges in a standard 1100 batters the frame and can crack it. Here is some history on the 1100. I still use the one I bought when I was 14, (and that was a very long time ago) for ducks and sporting clays. It only handles 2 3/4" but more than adequate for that use. For turkey it'll work as well. In fact I killed my first turkey with one at 35 yards with a tight full choked barrel. You can usually find full choke barrels cheap for the 1100. That's what everyone order back when lead was used for everything. There's probably a several hundred thousand unused full choke 1100 barrels out there. We had 5 or 6 1100s in our house and probably 12 extra barrels of diffferent lengths and chokes. Borch
redryder
Re: Remington Model 1100 Automatic I have an old 1100 3"magnum. I use for just about all my shootgun shooting, from doves to geese. Several years ago I bought a remchoke replacement barrel for it. Now I can use the gun for just about anything.
